Third: This is another opinion, but I think the shells are some of the better looking images. They tend to go on smaller frames, but that leads to a sharper image.
Fourth: Sea horses display at a weird sideways angle. Works with the leafy sort of seahorse image, less so with the basic seahorse image. (again, sort of an opinion, but it does bug me a little.)
Fifth: If you have fishing unlocked, you can look through your fishing guide to view what some of the images are going to look like(at least with fish you have caught), which can also give you an idea of what fish you want to aim for.
Six: I have yet to find a list of which fish go into which frames, so a lot of that comes down to very tedious searching through logs or the MB just checking every single fish for what size frame it fits into.
Thanks! I'll have a closer look later, but wanted to adress a few points already!
First I agree with your assessment of shells and seahorse - more or less decided to display mainly shells at this point and skip seahorses alltogether.
Secondly I do have fishing unlocked - got my fisher to 80 months ago - but my fishing log is... less than complete. And even then its so, so... full. How many fish are there? 800 or something? I recently calculated and its way to many... and to adress your sixth point: All. Fish. Go. Into. Frames. All of them. Which makes it even more sad that most of them dont look so great...
