They no longer have the Vitality edge over accessories, and give the same amount of main stat and Vit as accessories, so they should only cost 4 books.

because why not
Belts have spent years in this weird space where they're not exactly accessories but not quite armor either. The devs should really just pick one or the other and adjust the stats, costs, and drops accordingly.
It's because they used to have less main stat than helms, gloves, and boots, but they did have Vitality, which accessories did not. This justified them requiring an additional 2 books. But now that belts and accessories literally have the same stat caps and Main/Vit stat, it doesn't seem like there is any ambiguity on what they are. They're literally providing the same thing, and should cost the same.
If you're in a group where belts do not drop from the first fight in a tier, why should you have to wait two extra weeks to buy a piece of gear when if you're in a group where only belts drop, you can buy a ring/bracelet/necklace/earring for 2 less books?
Either way the player is getting the same stats if they buy a ring or a belt, so why are belts still "more valuable" in terms of weeks raided?

Belts have defense stats and rings do not.

Defence is irrelevant on anyone except tanks and scales badly in this game. Vitality covers the survival attribute more than anything. If you have 6% more defence, you will not take 6% less damage, you'll take 1% less. It should not increase item cost by 50%.
Belts are 15% of your total defense not 6%.
Belts cost equal tomes to accessories and use the same tome upgrade item as accessories. They should indeed cost 4 books, but this is the ff14 forums where someone will always argue with any QoL change.

I'm also wondering why put the accessory upgrade items on the 2nd round, since well, you earn the raid accessories from 1st round anyway, why not put the upgrade on 1st round?
