how about a tetris crossover with tetris furniture pieces you can stack on top of each other.

Seems like a weird crossover, but I wouldn't knock it, seeing how there's bound to be others that enjoy it. On a side note we should be due for a phantasy star online crossover sometime in April or so I assume. Finally coming to the US so may as well make whole on the crossover idea from back when PSO2 got their XIV Crossover. They have a ton of amazing emotes over there, along with outfits. I don't see the outfits really making it but at least some of their dancing emotes maybe?
There is nothing inherrently wrong with crossovers or with borrowing from other games (technically, Nier wasnt a crossover, because nothing went "over" so to speak).
But to me that doesnt mean we should just suggest a bunch of different games and see what sticks - an event for DoL/DoH (...something maybe... like... rebuilding a city...?) sure, I'm all for that. But a crossover with the reason "They didnt get one yet!" seems silly to me.
With crossovers theres also always the question: Does the game fit into FFXIV from a lore- and design-perspective? Monsterhunter and Nier do that - at least in my opinion. I suppose you could argue that we're having gardens and are apparently supposed to get farms at somepoint (so lore would be covered) but the whole artstyle of Animal Crossing is way different than FFXIV. Personally I wasnt a fan of Yokai and Dragonquest crossovers for the same reason (and I rarely see people using the pets and glamours from those two).
I'd also consider wether or not its a crossover the devs want to do - maybe this sounds weird, but my reason is that I trust the devs to pick things that they believe they can incoroprate into Eorzea (or things they WANT to incorporate) and by having them pick its assured that nothing will stick out to much.
As fun as FFXIV is: I dont want it to become a melting pot of everyones favorite non-FF game.
(And as a sidenote: With all the money, work and planning that goes into crossovers and all the legal bs behind them, I'd rather not have them at all - look at Garo and Yokai: Those things have been designed, modelded etc. and now they cant be obtained anymore, not even in the mogstation - why? Contracts have ended.)
No. And double no being that it's a Nintendo IP.. so extra no on that one. I rather have more SE ips anyway. Chrono Cross please?
Why has there to be a crossover whenever a new game is released?

I mean, there doesn't and there usually isn't. Nothing wrong with making a suggestion though, within reason. I'd consider most crossover event requests to be within reason. Chances are nothing will come of it but people have nothing to lose by putting it out there. This one wouldn't really be for me, but I'd just shrug my shoulders and move on with my life.

I don't see that technicality as making it "not a crossover". FFXIV is playing host to a crossover story with elements of FFXIV and elements of NieR in it. Whether NieR hosts a reciprocal crossover with FFXIV seems irrelevant - particularly when it is a stand-alone published game.
So. Much. This.
This is why I've been wary of the NieR crossover from the start. It's created a whole extra level of the extent to which they will bring non-FF titles into the game. We've gone from temporary events to permanent self-contained events with a short excuse plot (Monster Hunter) to this large-scale storyline and an entire alliance raid series, which is more than some actual FF crossovers have gotten. Where does it stop now, and how many more parts of this game will be a patchwork of other games? At least stick to the scope of using FF games.
If you want to play Animal Crossing, go play Animal Crossing. If you want to play Doom, go play Doom. Enjoy them in their own games. Bringing them here doesn't necessarily make this game any better.

They're already a thing at this point so they might as well continue - especially since they're a part of the appeal of the game for a portion of the community.
Would have I liked FFXIV to be its own thing with crossovers being limited only to other Final Fantasy titles? Sure. Yet we've been past that point for years now.
World of Warcraft began leaning too heavily on pop culture references and increasingly silly/contrived plot points a while back. I stopped playing when it became too much. I'll likely do the same in regards to FFXIV if things get too dire...but until then, the crossovers haven't been too jarring and have fit in with the rest of the game fairly well.
Although it's not heavy on the story, don't forget Palace of the Dead has been here for a very long time already, so Nier isn't really the first time they've brought something non-FF and made it part of the game's lore. There's also the level 60 and level 69 armor (Valerian and Xenobian sets) that also come from Tactics Ogre. This is why I've been wary of the NieR crossover from the start. Ugh. I tried to forget Palace of the Dead because it was a really poorly integrated crossover out of nowhere that seemed to be setting up a plot, because I didn't have the context of it being a crossover - but when I read into it, it was more like a story endpoint for that character? How should I know or care what this is if I haven't played the other game?Although it's not heavy on the story, don't forget Palace of the Dead has been here for a very long time already, so Nier isn't really the first time they've brought something non-FF and made it part of the game's lore. Was there anything past Floor 100? I was of the understanding that it was pure gameplay challenge beyond that point.
