Suspend housing demolition due to COVID-19

How has this not happened yet? We are in a global pandemic where people are losing jobs, homes, and lives. People are self isolating or being hospitalised and may lose access to the game worldwide.

SE has suspended housing demolition for way less, this is probably the most valid time in the history of the game for this to be enacted.

If you are unable to logon because you are hospitalised then losing a pixel house is not really going to be on your list of priorities. If you are self isolating then you have even more time to access the game than before. They suspended the timer in instances of major infrastructure damage.

One could argue that this is the worst time to do it because now most people suddenly have a lot of time to log in and play. I've noticed my quaint little server becoming packed at more random times throughout the day. Having queue times at like 2 in the afternoon.

And really, like someone else said, if you're hospitalized, your house should be the least of your concerns.

Actually if you are hospitalized it might do you good if you are actually able to play. Get your mind of rl for a bit.

With threads like this you clearly can see the game addicted people that are due to their addiction already unable to think rationally to make clever and senseful priorities in their lifes anymore...

And really, like someone else said, if you're hospitalized, your house should be the least of your concerns.

You could say the same to victims of earthquakes and hurricanes, which is why they've suspended house demolition in the past.

And the "you have more time to play now" rings hollow to those who will have to unsub over the next few months due to losing their jobs.

To the "there's more important things you can be worrying about" comments, there's no harm in asking. If you can take 20 seconds out of your insanely busy schedule curing COVID-19 to post these remarks then there's nothing wrong with others doing similarly.

And finally, Ishgard restoration may be giving us extra housing wards sooner than we think (dataminers have apparently found details of new Ishgard plots, which shows the data is already in the game files) so with new housing wards planned to be implemented anyway, there's even less harm in freezing housing demolition.

Considering how this is destabilizing the world as a whole right now, I'd say that this would be a welcome thing. They've done it before for less. I'm not saying hurricanes and earthquakes are lesser, but I'm more or less just trying to say that what is happening now isn't affecting one or 2 regions. It is affecting the entire world and in more ways than one. Sure, people are being forced to stay home, but that typically comes at a cost.

...But yeah, there's already another thread about this. We should keep it contained to that.

I take it you didn't read the part where OP pointed out many people are losing their source of income.
