/sigh... looks at Party Finder... some guy selling runs, some guy recruiting for an ERP-static, some guy with "clear for 1 then farm" which is code for "none of us have cleared this AT ALL or even done a practice run, but you can carry us right?"

While some of the horror stories considering low DPS may have just been cases of legitimately bad players, I know I sometimes scratch my head at how much less DPS I do than other people.

My rotation maybe isn't fine-tuned to the extent that savage and extreme guides would like it to be, but I know for a fact that it is more than enough for something like Expert Roulette, or normal Trials Roulette. Way more than enough.
And my gear isn't bad either. I no longer have any pieces below i480 HQ, and I meld where ever I can.

I don't use a parser or anything, so I guess it could be prone to some error, but I constantly see some mage or something generating more hate than me via just standing there and popping the occasional spell.

I mean, it doesn't even seem to be a difference in player skill. I think factors like uptime are a huge factor in this regard. As a dragoon, my hits are powerful but with a slow skill speed as well as limited range, so I guess many jobs can simply attack an enemy longer than I can. But it still doesn't explain why some mages can literally just stand there while I'm paying attention to my positionals, using every ability in my kit, etc etc.

Well, that's because they are hate bars, and not dps ones. You shouldn't judge your dps too much on that.

With all the hunts i did made, and plenty of time to look at them, i did come to the conclusion that some hits and skills generate more hate than some others. As a DRK i always have a very hard time to generate as much hate as warriors, even less stuffed ones. A thing that never happen with paladins or gunbreakers, so it isn't a matter of me badly playing my job, or it would happen with them too (plus DRK is braindead easy to play anyway). Since all tanks dps are equal this expac, the only logical conclusion i see is that all the garanteed crit and direct hits of warriors generate tons more of hate at once than my skills. In short i do as much dps as them, but generate less hate because of the way DRK is working.

This explanation also fit with your dragoon and mage problem. Even if the DRG has a good dps, he need a very long time compared to other jobs to do his full rotation and unleash some his later damage skills. While mages like BLM and RDM can launch big nukes way sooner than you.

A family emergency came up out of nowhere when I was healing in Tam Tara (Hard). I had to leave them high and dry without a healer The family emergency was non-life threatening so for that I'm thankful, but I hate having to leave in the middle of healing

Not sure you read Rasikko's and my own post correctly....
Rasikko out-dpsed everyone (DPS and tank) while playing AST. So, this is obviously about AST and how they, with the lowest pDPS ingame by a pretty big margin, shouldn't out-dps other classes.
I repeat: Rasikko played AST. Rasikko out-dpsed EVERYONE while playing AST. That shouldn't happen. Ever. Not even if you're "I push one button over and over"-bad. Not at 80, not at 71, never.

*Sigh* ....sorry, it's been a bit of a rough day for me. I'll start from the beginning, to try and clear this up. I think you and I are on two different pages here.

Rilifane: It was a SAM and SMN. Tank was doing their thing properly and I could gravity all day for the majority of the packs. This still shouldn't put me at #2 lol. Often times, I'm sitting pretty at #4.

DumbdogsWorld: Enmity is now a better indicator at player DPS contribution than it was before the ridiculous tank aggro changes, but yes there is these little quirks with it. Aggro has other little unforeseen things that affect it, along side player damage.

8 stacks on that boss? That's...actually pretty impressive if you think about it.

I believe the cap is 9 there, and you can get it in one go if you don't bother to break the line by running to the edge.

What's worse is that I didn't even think it could go that high. My co-dps found out the fun way. Apparently if you eat the 4 stacks from the Shadowflow and then eat the 4 stacks when he uses Enter Night, there's your 8.

I think the damage the drg took from that was around the 200k mark.

Aurum Vale. Everyone's bane. I'm levelling my SAM, and I got this as my roulette. Okay, no problem - except the tank starts off with "This is going to be pain". I thought it was a joke, but no - the tank proceeds to overestimate himself and... gets killed two (or three) times in the first room, so we wipe each time. First boss, no problem. After that, two more wipes to normal mobs due to pulling too much again. Second boss, again, no problem - except this guy is eating every single one of the Coincounter's AoEs. All right. We wipe another time between it and the last boss, and last boss goes fine.

I immediately think "All righty. I'm going to do Bardam's since I'm close to levelling, and I want more exp from the MSQ roulette." Oh boy. I get another tank who is overestimating things. Now, this tank was doing things pretty well - avoiding AoEs, using cooldowns, etc. But the healer was just... DPS'ing most of the time, usually spamming Holy. After the tank remarks this, the healer began actually keeping him alive... and things go much better.

Now, it's a question of how the MSQ will treat me.

Me too, but an unexpected drop in internet speed (10-15 second frozen screens on a boss fight) forced me out of an expert roulette a while ago. Everything seems better know after some rests (*fingers-crossed*)

Gurgle. Stuck on the add phase on E7s for a week now. DPS too low, birds keep exploding between the 5% and 20% marks.

And then one lady tells to "Stop moving the add so much!" Well excuse me!? Do you know what happens if you keep those things in one place? They bloody tether to each other is what!
But no, moving the add is bad.

Something I found out just now in the Grand Cosmos.

So you know you're stuck with that blue fire debuff, if you have no furniture to ignite right? So I'm thinking, I'm gonna out pace that dot with Aspected Benefic and Aspected Helios on the 2 DPS who got stuck with it(long story). Fear my powerful regens!

Nope. It just kills you after a few seconds anyway. Nice one SE >_>.

Got Refulgence 26 minutes in progress as DNC. The AST, MNK and RDM all die when she is throwing out the proximity AoEs + triple AoE drops. The AST and MNK are picked up quick but the RDM is left laying. We get past the platform phase and they still aren’t raising so I ask why. No answer, so I say “healers raise the RDM”

They answer this time and tell me I don’t understand because I wasn’t there for the previous attempts QQ he kept dying anyway and he’s a waste of MP. Okay so these healers are bullies in my opinion. I came in as a replacement, meaning they had time to remove him if he was so terrible and causing wipes but they didn’t... because they wanted to teach him a “lesson” or something? The AST died at least twice more in the fight so idk why they even had an attitude.

I dunno, I commed the RDM because I know it feelsbad to be left dead the entire fight and also being shamed by your “companions.” I got 2 in return (and the orchestrion) so I guess I wasn’t the only one that didn’t approve of their behavior. I checked after and half the group was from Coeurl so they were probably trashing the RDM in their private chats too.

Edit - Just checked the lodestone. The 2 healers and the MNK are in the same FC, the GNB isn’t so he gets a pass from me.
