The problem is a lack of testing and knowledge. The mortality rate could be 0.5% for all we know.


It also affects certain age groups differently, like all illnesses. I'd wager that city in italy is mostly older, which would have a higher rate. I'm sure if we polled every disease that way we'd see similar results.


I'm not saying it's not a bad virus and people shouldn't be careful. We just don't have accurate statistics at the moment.
