Feature requests are not petty THIS ONE IS however.

It straight up is asking for the developers to make a toggle because you do not want to look at x glam. THAT IS PETTY, not the idea of not wanting to see x glam that is reasonable to a person's opinion on what aesthetics they like, ASKING FOR THE DEVELOPERS TO MAKE A TOGGLE SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO LOOK AT X GLAM IS PETTY.

Asking isn't petty. Demanding is petty. The pitch is very important in that regard.

Chances are, if you find somebody's request to be petty, it's because they acted like a whiney baby on the very first post in their thread. That has nothing to do with requesting features, though.

I wonder if those against the proposal would object to a CCTV style 'blur' effect that obscures their character's glamour and face? It wouldn't be my first, second or even third choice in regards to how the feature is implemented but I figure I'd try and put more ideas out there.

I did not say this anywhere at any point but thank you for trying to make me look like someone that I am not. I hope this brings you joy, then some good would come of it.

EDIT: so this is what this thread has become now. Trying to make the opposition look like we disapprove of people calmly asking for something, regardless of what that something is.

I've been following the thread from the very start and I've noticed that those in support of the thread have conducted themselves in a civil manner, even in the face of hurtful insults and accusations being hurled in their direction.

I'm not claiming that everybody against the idea has been throwing such things around but equally I'm not going to pretend as if it hasn't happened, either.

I've been saying since early on in this thread that the ONLY reason I'm here is because people were going on and on with the "you have no right to do ___" statements.

If Square Enix adds the feature? Cool. That's their choice.

If Square doesn't add the feature? Cool. That's their choice.

If I literally draw over your character on my screen using a marker in order to add a mustache? Cool. That's my choice.

From the very beginning, I've been about freedom of data and freedom of physical private property (aka screens and storage devices).

If I tried to demand Square Enix to add such a feature, which involves their servers and their dev machines, I would be a huge hypocrite.

In an ideal world, we ask nicely for features, Square Enix either adds those features or doesn't, and people continue on as normal without any pettiness.

But whatever....meh.

You quoted me first. I'm not sure what I was supposed to assume there. If you were just poking at my discussion of semantics and nothing more, then you are correct - I think semantics are very important in discussions like this. It helps clears things up where they could otherwise be vague.

I'm sorry but to sit/stand whatever there to ask the developers of this game to design and implement this feature to remove glams from your view that you do not want to see however it is implemented is a very very petty thing because you can avoid it already you just want it easier to avoid.

What's next remove races not petty or how about content , because it's the same train of thought of I don't like x because y reason please implement a feature so I can turn off seeing x.

The reason you want a no glam button is because you don't like it, that is what it boils down to, nothing really wrong with not liking something, but to ask for a feature to remove something from your view which your more than capable of doing already is goddamn petty as at that point you find it so offensive it needs to be removed from your screen and SE to be the ones to develop it.
