That's not the point. Not everyone is available to enter said house *every* 45 days. Life happens and the game gets sidetracked, and no one should have to return from whatever kept them away just to find their home and all the work and gil they put into it simply gone.

Apartments are for you then. They exist, can be decorated, and you never lose them. If you aren't planning to actually give your house much of an use to start with, you could just get an apartment. That's not the point. Not everyone is available to enter said house *every* 45 days. No a paying sub should be the requirement. This entering the house stuff needs to go and the on/off demo timer which has been off almost as much as it's been on.

I disagree. Houses are limited and everyone who wishes to be active should stand a chance, especially when apartments do exist for people who don't want to enter their houses. Why not get one?

You can disagree all you like but I won't change my opinion of a system that is in need of fixing. If they are paying a sub then they are active. How and when i use my house is my business. If I choose to go on a 2 month vacation I should be able to without losing my house as long as I maintain my sub. At the moment SE agrees with the enter the house timer but there are many of us who don't.
The whole idea of the demolition timer in my opinion was to remove housing from those who have stopped playing the game and I have a friends list full of them.

What if RMT are able to get housing and to resell them. Does it sounds fair?
The housing is broken, you willingly admit or not.
Such short sighted arguments for some kind of sorry exclusivity in a virtual world is so sad. You don't even realize how poor the current system is if you wish to be imaginative and creative. The timer is just a lesser evil.

If gardening with cross-breeding was allowed in apartments then I'd agree with you. But you need access to a garden to be able to do cross-breeding. Plus tenancies. Like sharing a house with my EB partner. The tenancies I'm willing to let slide a bit more, but the gardening aspect is way more limited in apartments than houses, and good luck doing cross-breeding in an apartment, it's impossible because the only indoor gardening furnishings are single node items. Since only 1 thing can be planted in them, you can't cross-breed. So thus apartmnents are not a viable option. Fortunately I'm on a very quiet realm so housing shortages aren't an issue here (at least in small houses, I even see mediums pop up fairly often). But it doesn't excuse the issues. In fact, I think on Balmung, even all the apartments are gone.
White Mage ~ Scholar ~ PaladinBoi if you got kicked for the same thing in over 20 duties I strongly suggest you think hard on whatever the hell it is you're doing
As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.

Oh, I actually didn't think of that. You have a point. I guess the solution would be to allow gardening inside, and to let players share their apartment with other players. If gardening with cross-breeding was allowed in apartments then I'd agree with you. I hope apartments will be updated in the future with new possibilities.

Because outside of buying off the marketboard, it's the ONLY way to access certain seeds. So if making sure anyone who wants to access it is able to is "butchering its value", then I say butcher it.
Here's the thing, most of the stuff, you can choose to do. You can choose what job to gear up (even if you're limited), you can choose your specialist crafters (and change them up to 3x a week). The problem with cross-breeding is you could well be unable to access it due to factors outside of your control because of limited housing meaning you can't grab somewhere to use it. And going to an FC isn't an option either, there's a good number that either have dedicated planting people, or lock down its access. I know our FC is one of them. So again, not a factor in your control, so I won't accept the join an FC as an excuse. Even if apartments it was limited to a 3 slot plant, so you could cross-breed one (or maybe 2, I don't know if in order to cross breed you need 2 or 3 slots) at a time, that'd still make houses more valuable but not completely lock people out.
