    The fact that people still call the boss fights "raids" is crazy to me when they are literally just boss fights.
    Raids in this game are "harder trials".

    Though the name holds over from EQ and WoW's moving to having raid zones that were just bosses (or bosses with like, 1 trash pack) sprinkled in with their raid zones. Though those fights did SIGNIFICANTLY more with their boss rooms and encounter design than 14 does.

    That said, part of me is happy I will never have to track down a wispy spirit in a giant cave and tell it in say "shoulder my burdens" before really bad things happen. That fight was fun (unless you had multiple clerics get burdened multiple times in a row), but that mechanic killed so many bad typists/hotkeys

    It has fewer dungeons a year than Everquest has, so it depends on which nit you want to pick.

    Every other game frontloads their dungeon content and says "Here, you can do these whenever".

    Just one now. There used to be a time where there were multiple released. Granted some of them were the hard mode versions but still they were different enough to provide some variety. What makes it worse for me is that some of the dungeons used to drop unique gear. Even if it wasn't great, it still gave the glamour hunters something to farm for. Most dungeons now give recolored gear from previous patches and 90% of it can't be dyed.

    Even looking at the list of dungeons released at the start of ARR to the end of SB is disheartening. It's not about being spoiled, it's about taking away something and saying that the manpower used to create them will be focused on something else..........like umbrellas.

    ARR had 31 dungeons
    HW had 18 dungeons
    SB had 15 dungeons
    Shb is currently at 10 dungeons and we know that only one will be released going forward on even numbered patches.

    To be completely fair, we know this has generally gone to specific things each time they've reduced dungeon content - the Diadem, Deep Dungeon, Eureka, the Doman Enclave and Ishgard restoration projects, and ocean fishing. Of course, some of these have gone over great while most of them are meh and no one has ever liked the Diadem, so how successful this is overall is hard to say.

    I know, I know...I'm just being a brat. I recall when they first announced there would only be one dungeon only to hear that they're remaking Diadem and putting a ton of emphasis on the umbrellas in the next upcoming patches. I can't lie, I've been a bit sour since. But who knows, Diadem could be awesome for all we know.

    I love running dungeons when I need exp. For some reason though, when I need tomes they are just an eye sore. Probably because level grinding feels like progression, while tome grinding feels like a chore. I guess my problem with dungeons is not their design, but that their replay factor isn't very good.

    There has typically been at least one dungeon in each expansion that I would run repeatedly simply because I like the dungeon. In ARR it was Aurum Vale and Keepers. In HW it was The Aery and Sohm Al HM. In SB I absolutely loved The Burn and Ghimlyt Dark. Nothing has grasped me in ShB except Amaurot, and a lot of people seem to hate getting that dungeon because of the lower ilvsync, while this is one of the most appealing things about it to me other than being graphically amazing of course.

    Only other incentive I really have to run dungeons is I find them to be great practice grounds for both AoE and ST rotations. Dummies just don't get the job done, and I need things to be turning, biting, reducing arena size, and all that good stuff. Dungeon demands are very low, so the price for screwing up is usually negligible.

    I want HW and Stormblood dungeons playable at lvl 80, but that will never happen. heh

    You are basically paying for 2 half-baked expansion from which you will never experience them fully like people used to years ago. I really wish i could play HW content on current max lvl.
