But here, I can play that game too...

Ahh, another response from a person that hasn't done anything out in the world at all and is content with instanced content.
Another response from Malmstrom that continues to ignore everything there is to do in the open world because it doesn't fit their argument.

You and I have had this conversation before. When I told you the long list of things I do in the open world as I gather and level all my alt jobs, you didn't reply to me. There are very good reasons to continue doing things in the open world - Gil, tomes, mats, XP - but the choice whether to do them or not is yours. It's fine that you choose not to do them, but do please shut up spouting nonsense about nothing to do. I spend 80% of my time in the open world when I'm in game

I spend an hour in an area collecting all the mats I need from that area, I don't just port in, fly to an unspoiled node and port out again. I do FATEs for XP and the opportunity to tick another box in my challenge log as well as the currency in ShB that lets me buy stuff from NPCs. I farm mats from mobs. I do beast tribes for XP and for their currency. I do hunts and daily hunts for XP and tomes. This stuff takes me hours. (I love taking screenshots of the different areas too, I have a stack of beautiful ones I use as screen savers. But I acknowledge that last one is just a 'me' thing)

And yet you also continue to consider the possibility that there are some people that don't need to do the things you are doing. Not want. Need.

Some of us are level capped on everything. That's a giant chunk of open world time that we no longer need to engage in. What are we going to do? Grind FATEs for mats that don't sell or items we already have? And what tomestones? The beast tribe ones? The quests that take a few minutes to complete and then you're done? Or are you referring to maps, where it's jump from one spot to another between zones until you get your instanced treasure vault?

My point is that once you're done, that's it. What's the draw to the open world when you have done everything each zone has to offer? Stand around and take screenshots? Fly around in circles and gather the thing that the bots will tank the price on immediately?

    ...

I'm not sure how else I can emphasize that I wish there was more open world content. Perhaps it's just that my definition of what that would be is different than what everyone else's is.

Your point is valid, just put forward in a pretty odd manner.

I often wonder why Eureka wasn't simply bolted onto the side of the open world rather than instanced off in it's own odd way. In many ways it's exactly the open world content and danger many people clamour for.

I miss FFXI's 'super mobs', they kept you awake and being able to go back and finally beat them later on down the line was always a highlight. I always made a habit of curb stomping that ram on my way through to San d'oria even by the time I was doing kings and sky

But that applies to everything in the game (in any game, actually) once you collected everything you wanted from a specific part of it - whats the draw of dungeons once you've got everything on max level and all the drops you wanted? Why keep running raids if you've got all your drops? Why keeping doing Savage if you're BiS with all jobs you care about? Why keep farming a primal once you got all your weapons and the mount? Why continue crafting if you've got everything you wanted there?

This isnt an open world problem, this is a problem that every game has - and that every aspect of this game has. Since this game has so many different content-types, each one only gets small updates, so everyone gets at least something they like with each patch - instead of pumping everything into one type of content.
The latest patch gave use Beast Tribes and some more stuff to buy with gemstones - two things that are a small drive to go into the open world.

I feel very sorry for you if you only ever do stuff that you NEED to. I mean, I don't NEED to play this game, but I want to. You clearly don't grasp the concept of doing something just because it's enjoyable. I mean I don't NEED to go out in the open world in RL either, I can just use my very basic mount to get to work (which is clearly an instance) and then back home again and stay in bed all weekend. But I don't do that because there are things in the RL open world THAT I ENJOY DOING. I know, how weird is that ...

I don't NEED to gather mats, but I enjoy it. I don't NEED to do beast tribes, but I enjoy it. If I don't enjoy things (like roulettes) I don't do them. But there are enough things I do enjoy in the game that I continue playing it. If you don't have things you enjoy doing, maybe you should go play something else for a while?
