I get what you are saying, but there are more revealing costumes out there,swimsuits that are more revealing and are selled to girls of that same age in various countries. I am not saying that you cannot be uncomfortable if that's how you feel, but comparing that costume with a nude mod or something you can find on rule 34 is an exaggeration.

My mindset in that fight was a tad different. I saw Ryne losing control. In my mind it was "Save Ryne from Shiva". I thought i was going to dislike her character once I found she was a minfillia vessel since i was never a fan of her but MAAAAN I ended up warming up to her and getting a paternal feeling for her. I was in Thancreds boat with the ARE YOU EVEN THINKING ABOUT WHAT YOURE DOING!?

You need to bear in mind that English-speaking cultures are quite diverse. Some are liberal and permissive, others much more conservative. If something makes people feel uncomfortable, then they should be able to say so without being accused of having a 'problem' attitude.

As I said above, the fact that we don't have a definite age for Ryne isn't helping matters. If she is underage, then I would definitely say there's an 'ick' factor in how she's portrayed in the raid, for me. What is appropriate for an adult isn't always appropriate for a minor (even a fictional one). Similarly, if she is an adult then I don't have an issue with it. Unfortunately we're just guessing which category Ryne falls into.

But that's my point, it shouldn't matter.
We are playing a game, there is no nudity involved, nothing sexual except what people will attach to her. And if we really want to nitpick she is not herself in this fight, she's representing an incarnation, old enough to be our great great great grandma ^^"

I understand that sensibility on this kind of topic is completly subjective to the person, the environnement one grew up in, and the current political correctness globally recognised, but if we really have to mind everyone and everything and every sensibility / special case/ on earth we're going to have bland characters, without any personality, without any form , some genderless blob, every next ennemies is going to be an amaurotian that way no one sensibility is going to get hurt.
I'm sorry really i do understand this point of view, and i don't want to sound like a jerk or aggressive but this kind of topic, in my opinion, just hold everyone back and does nothing to advance any kind of cause.

Except Shiva isn't simply a recollection of our imagination. The Light overwhelms Ryne, thus making her become the vessel for Shiva's re-imagination.

That was always the plan. Ryne deliberately repeats Ysayle's summoning of Shiva (as shown in the opening sequence of the original ARR Shiva trial) with the intent of becoming her vessel - the problem is that she loses control of that summoned power once it's inside her.

I seriously doubt only a year has passed from ARR to ShB. To me it just seems ridiculous that all of that could happen in the space of a year. Two years seems much more plausible. I don't think SE ever explicitly said how much time has passed. I wonder if they only will when the twins finally get their growth spurt.

SE (or at least Koji Fox) has explicitly said we are in a time bubble and should not count time as passing. It doesn't matter much time has logically passed between events - the calendar does not move forward and dates such as "five years since the Calamity" will never shift. The twins will never reach their growth spurt because they will not get past being sixteen years old without a time skip.

Well I see by some unfortunate standard this thread is still alive. So i will chime back in.

Firstly a reply to the reply I received. Sonic and friends are teenagers. Aimed at kids. One unfiltered google search will show you all sorts of debauchery. Is that the developers faults? No. It’s the consumers and artists faults.

Secondly, if you go into this fight and you are sexualizing this character model. YOU. Are the problem not the developers. They didn’t invite this behavior they didn’t need to because regardless of what they made her wear or not that content will get out there regardless. They aren’t responsible for your thoughts. Period. If you are sexualizing this character in your thoughts re-examine your thought process.

The team shouldn’t have to stifle their creativity based on your sensibilities. Control yourself and your thoughts or avoid the content.

Asking the dev team to remodel this enemy because it’s “sexualizing a childlike character” is ridiculous. If you can’t control your thoughts or at least keep them private then stop.

Plenty of us went into the fight and didnt even have these thoughts nor do we want them, we want to enjoy a visually stunning, great raid battle without people being hypersensitive about their personal sensibilities, and while yes you have the right to voice your opinion. We have the right to voice ours and this is a worldwide game and mmo or not Final Fantasy has always been and will always be a Jrpg targeted mostly at japanese audiences.

You are not a victim here, no one is forcing you to consume the content, no laws have been broken, and while you morally may have some issue with design choices and others may even agree with you. There are just as many who are opposing you and your viewpoint because we do not want bland sterile content.

I for one love the artistic designs, not because they “sexualize” Ryne but because they made her beautiful and powerful, they made it seem realistic that this was Ryne channeling Shiva influenced by the WoL/WoD memories and power. You focus on one aspect, but her base outfit is phenomenal, the whole thing with Hraesvelgr makes sense because of Ran’jit and how he fused with his dragon. It’s lore purposes not there for sexualization. Not only is the WoL/WoD influencing the design so is Ryne.

I had assumed Ryne was around 14 but in fact I don't think her age has been stated.

She mentions that Alphinaud and Alisaie are her age I think pretty early on in this raid tier, they're 16 or 17.

If SE would ever have had the intention to willingly sexualize Ryne, then they would have haf already plenty enough moments to do so earlier.
Or in regard of E8S they would have actually exposed here really, but everything is completely always covered, you never see any real nudity.

Its a revealing eye candy, but nothing more and even that with a completely different body model that isn't her own.

Would they dare to show us the REAL Ryne in her original design in such a dress, then I could eventually understand a bit all this fuss about her here, but we just fight against a magically instant matured adult Ryne with Shiva Powers, not at all against a child, so stop playing up here as morale apostles, its just ridiculous ^^

I don't really mind shiva Ryne, I like the savage version design, but I wish folks would stop lewding her and yes I know rule 34 is a thing and folks gunna lewd what they gunna lewd. But there's something creepy about a 30-something gamer referring to Ryne has his 'waifu'. Its just plain creepy and cringey even if she ain't real.
