Calling something petty because it's petty isn't being particularly uncivil. I could have called it childish. Or that the person is a whiner. I will not shy away from criticism because it's not nice. Demanding that someone get a punishment for using an option you don't like is pretty petty.

The only major change to glamours over the five-plus years that I've been playing is the glamour armoire, so I don't have any idea you mean by 'capacity'. I've read posts about 'glamour is the true endgame' for as long as I've been playing.

Argument by seniority just doesn't cut it. Some of us are at least as old as you, and have been playing the game for more than a year.

You and me both! I can't even, like when I make an outfit things HAVE TO MATCH. I'm not even talking just dyes! I mean like the actual texture of the piece itself, it needs to look like it goes together otherwise I get incredibly annoyed!

You see it as a punishment. I see it as the simplest way to implement the change. You appear to want more.

Despite what people have been saying here, turning off glamour is a matter of server-side numbers being sent to the client. You can see this if you run the game on one computer, make changes to your gear and then run the game on another computer. The last gear you were in is what gets sent to the client, even if it is for a different job than the one you last closed the game with.

The easiest way to turn off glamour it to tell the client to ignore the numbers and replace them with something else.

If this were SE's solution, would you be ok with it? I'm getting the impression that the answer would be "no".

Oh amen! Like you, I enjoy throwing pieces together that look good with each other, from the textures to the colors and shapes --- especially if I'm trying to go for a certain theme.
Full armor sets are nice, but sometimes it's fun to mix things up with different pieces if they look lovely together!~ ^o^

Hey again! First of all, I apologize if my post came off as an argument purely by senority. That's not at all my intent. I was trying to state that not many people remember how glamour used to be, and it's really good context for the arguments that are being brought up right now.

There have been really major changes to the glamour system over the years. I'll make a small list just for context of where I'm coming from and why I think it is important for those arguing against an option to maybe take into consideration, because the big boom of glamour is relatively new compared to the -full- lifespan of the game.

1. Glamour crystals were broken up per level for per level of item. Ex. Super cool looking helmet is level 32, you need a level a glamour crystal lvl 3 to glamour that item. This made glamouring -super- cumbersome.

2. There weren't nearly as many glamour items as there are now. Sure, there were always a decent amount of armor sets, but as oppose to outfits? That's a recent development in the past maybe 2-3 years?

3. Most of the lvl 1 glamour stuff were really jokey or goofy seasonal stuff. Now, there's a crazy abundance of level 1 glamour items that you can fashion your character out with.

4. Glamour plates. I don't know if this had to do with the armoire, but this made glamouring -waaaay- more accessible and less problematic.

5. Armoire. You already touched on this one.


All in all, the glamour system is a lot of fun, but it wasn't always as accessible as it is now. Glamour wasn't the primary focus for many players at the end of the day. I agree, it's a huge pivotal point of the game, but then again no one (I would say) is arguing to take it away. My personal opinion is it shouldn't be forced onto players if there could be an option. It wasn't always the biggest priority, and a toggle certainly wouldn't take away all the wonderful updates and fun people have with it, imo

I hate using full sets. The only time I use them is when I'm inbetween a personally created glam. The full sets in this game look incredibly generic. What I do is I look at specific pieces, and depending on what I think I can make I'll work for that piece specifically. I have bought many of the sets on the mogstation, and only use a single piece of it. I wish I had more weapons though, like my white mage, I don't have a single good looking staff. It really bothers me, but not much I can do about that without ultra grind, and even then most look horrible. Same with dragoon, so many butt ugly weapons.
