SE don't have to worry about a npc being misused in the game because they control everything npcs do. However with mods, and some lewd rp, players can do a lot of weird stuff with their characters...which of course would get even creepier if you allow them to play underage characters.

The problem is that they used a character that people already took pictures of without clothing and told people that this is bad (and I agree with them because no dev would want such pictures on the internet). Yet here we are with them using Ryne for exactly the same thing..why make her dress that way? Shiva was a saint why not let her dress like one?

To be fair she was a Heretic in Ishgard - which also had some questionable dressing customs as you'll learn if you go back and do some of the crafting levequest turn ins. (They REALLY love ordering half-naked subligar up there, and it's not for battle minded reasons if you catch my drift.)

That said what they did with Ryne is really creepy. I get the lore reasons behind it - but nothing in the lore says that Shiva with Ryne as their proxy needed to literally wear their dragon lover... And that sentence is ten times more disturbing now that I've written it down, joy of joys... I don't mind them having Hraesvelgr as part of the fight but I don't get why they went about it in the way they did, as there's dozens of other ways they could have incorporated him into the fight... Or dodged the matter entirely by not having Ryne mantle Shiva at all.

Ryne is literally like 15/16, that is a child. I love me some sexualised characters and skimpy clothing so youre making a lot of assumptions here, I just really dont like them on a character thats literally underage

To the point that people literally got twitter banned for posting nude modded images of her. This was also on top of those images getting said people real in game consequences from SE, on top of a LONG rant from Yoshi-P during the last live letter about this very issue because you know his bosses likely caught wind of it and other modding scandals. SE sees her as a child as do platforms like twitter. I don't think anyone would care if it had been just a straight image of Ysayle, though the phrase 'wearing their dragon lover' would have raised brows.

If anything people are just flabbergasted by the hypocrisy. Though I'm certainly not defending the people who got banned - they were gross for a whole slew of reasons that don't just pertain to the Ryne photos they threw around.

I don't want to play devil's advocate but I'm guessing by their point of view there's a huge difference between simply appearing nude (which is a cultural purity thing if I recall correctly) while fusing with a dragon and trying to murder you to death, and intentionally [un]dressing a certain way for the explicit purpose of getting someone aroused in Limsa. That said, at the end of the day it doesn't change the fact it looks bad.

Why are you even surprised? All the rules/norms are changed and bent all the time. And one would assume most people should be able to differentiate between fantasy and reality, and yet we still have have this idiocy going about fictional characters being 'underaged' etc.

Child is legally defined by the UN to be someone under the age of 18, this holds true for my country as well.
So yes, Underage does mean a child
It is not a sex scene, it doesn't make it any less uncomfortable that a child is being sexualised.
