Maybe they had a macro that popped up text in the chat log, like an invocation of some sort. I've seen it before in my chat during a roulette and it does get annoying pretty fast. Though it's nothing compared to people spamming emotes at each other and seeing "X dotes on Y" over and over.

If you look at the picture, The GM did not say he was also spamming chat at the time. He only said "Spam is spam"
