Housing costs millions... And equipment is sometimes pretty expensive especially as a new player, if i want to buy a sword needed for , let's say, the curtana relic quest the base sword is listed at around 350 to 400K gil on my server... There is no way a new player can get that much money that fast... If they only think about "long time" players that saved up to 100 Million gils, they sure do forget about newcomers that don't have it so easy.

Also, in almost every Final Fantasy Game i was more than happy to farm dozen or hundred millions of gils too, i don't see this being out of the "norm" in a final fantasy game, i still have saves in the original FF7 / FF8 / FF9 with a ton of farm'd gils (i know it might not be relatable to an online game but still, i don't think it's so out of the ordinary for final fantasy games)

Oh well... I was enjoying selling stuff i gathered through mining tho... This change is coming so soon, it's scary, i could only profit from that side of the game for such a very little time Who is thinking about the noobs ?

Maybe i'm wrong but making it way harder for new players to make gils, doesn't it defeat the purpose to fight against RMT in the first place ? Oo
Newer players can’t really do collectibles, they are unlocked at level 50. As a new player I would encourage you to look at items around your level on MB, diff items can sell for a lot, even beginner gear as people are leveling other jobs, you also have a housing crafting menu and can make money with items from there as well.

If they remove gil from collectibles I sure won't be doing them anymore. I sure don't need the exp. from them. Them removing gil from stuff and lowering amount get from items will just hurt the new players and give them no way to make gil. There is other things more important that doing this. Like making head gear work on all races and convert primal weapons so new jobs can have them. Sounds like waste of funds to me since they always say they have suck a limited budget.

This changes nothing for selling items. All they're removing is the gil you receive from collectibles, which I'm guessing you haven't unlocked yet.

The point of collectables is scripts, not gil. Then you use them for material or crafting mats.

I can’t help but feel Yoshida (and maybe an extra dev or two) act kind of petty and passive aggressive when it comes to a few bad apples VS an overwhelming majority of players that are not bad apples. Then decides to punish everyone for the actions of a few. That, and they just can’t handle loads of criticism at all.

For example, that whole situation with the waymarkers recently. A few players misused it, and now everyone is affected by it. And then, that entire situation with them basically holding information back with job changes or something.

Geez. If this keeps up, we may see an hourly undercutting timer on the marketboard all because a few players pissed Yoshida off with frequent undercutting or something.

Yeah, I don't much care for their use of the "nuclear" option. Especially when there are much bigger issues requiring even bigger fixes. I'm not saying that they aren't justified in their adjustments in an attempt to thwart modders/parsers/etc. They are. But it is all about how they handle it, and I don't think they are handling it with much finesse.

While I cannot give a specific date on when personal housing will be implemented, I can say that prices will be completely separate from free company housing, and, naturally, far more affordable.

It's likely because Alchemy collectibles are a goldmine for scrips this expansion. When Craftman's Cunning Syrup is starred, I get 324 scrips per craft and 5k gil. Each craft is a one-button macro with just 8 steps, so around 20 seconds each.

Quite a few players (some potentially with bots) use this as a form of income. Keep retainers on constant duty for the mats and go nuts on starred days. You get a chunk of raw gil and turn the scrips into materia to sell. This is why craft materia is dirt cheap compared to the past.

It seems they don't want to nerf scrip gains, so in order to keep the raw gil flowing into the economy down, they've axed it.

Like really, outside of housing what is gil used for?
Most peoples gil goes towards teleports these days.
I don't do housing and I only pay gil for teleports if the cost is under 250, and use tickets if above. The most expensive thing I've bought in game was a set of previous generation crafted DOH gear to bootstrap myself into making Facet gear for myself. My I only have 30-something million after 14 months of playing. and not much to spend it on.

The thing that confuses me is that while they're axing this, they still have not removed the enemy gil drops from ARR/HW dungeons which are being abused to far greater effect by the RMT farm bots and also are of little practical benefit to legit players as it's the hacks said bots use that makes it efficient for them. For the time spent, a single DoH bot spamming collectables still makes a lot more money then a single group of dungeon farm bots, but that's why they resort to making dozens if not hundreds of them at a time and straining the instance servers in the process.

They evidently have ways of telling where the bulk of the gil is coming from, so I'm not sure why they don't seem to have picked up on that being a problem.

Reporting and banning bots would not stop the problem. It is the equivalent of trying to empty a swimming pool with a shot glass while someone is filling the pool with a fire hose. They need to find ways to break the bots while not negatively affecting the legitimate players to much.

That might be a major reason why they are reworking ARR. Stopping AK and WP from being gold farms may not change much if they can easily swap to gil farming by new character MSQ completion.
