Why Can't I Trade Yellow Gathere's Scrips?

If I'm not mistaken and my memory doesn't betray me, those NPC will be unlocked when you hit your first 80 as Crafter/Gatherer. For now exchange what you have in Rhalgr's Reach.

I'm pretty sure I was able to trade with the Crystarium NPC before reaching Lv80. I had unlocked the Crystalline Mean quests though, so that's another thing that might act as a gate.

I got the scrips from Mean quests, from Qeshi-Rae, these are the first scrips I've had for anything.

So I just reached 80 BTN and the NPC still won't talk to me so you were indeed correct tdb about level not being a gate.

As it stands I have access to the Mean quests and have completed 4 of her gathering requests, I'm at a loss to know why it's broken.

Okay, so it seems there's a whole bloody quest chain stretching all the way back to Mor Dhona, through Idyllshire, then God knows where that's needed to unlock every damned expansion's Scrip exchanger it seems .. God SE love their content gates .. simply to be able to spend the Scrips on gear for the expansion where I've just earned them. Until I do that chain (which I have still not found mentioned in any 'wiki', I can only buy obsolete level 58 items.

What a farce, I have no ideas what to do, what unlocks what and the game totally fails to give any idea. I took the quest in Mor Dhona to talk to someone in Idyllshire, I did that, did a couple more and then no more quests .. nothing to tell me what I need to do to progress.

FINALLY .. after the dead-end in Idyllshire, on a hunch I went to Rhalgr's and found a 'blue' quest by the Scrip Exchange there and low and behold, completing that unlocked the Exchange NPC there.

So I returned to the Crystallarium, no quest and the Scrip NPC still refused to talk to me .. but when I went to Eulmore there WAS a quest and doing that I was finally able to get level 80 items from the Scrip NPC nearby.

I have no idea how I was supposed to 'know' this whole damned chain was needed to unlock an NPC to trade the Scrips I was getting on Shadowbringers .. I really despire SE's endless use of content gating, there was no need at all the Shadowbringer Scrip NPC to be locked out until I'd somehow figured out I needed to talk to a named NPC which no-one had ever mentioned.

A totally opaque system, just like SE love.

Thanks to those who proffered suggestions, but you see now how I has blissfully unaware that the Scrips were part of the Collectables system I hadn't bothered with because all I wanted to do was get to 80 before looking at anything more.
