Can you please retire Gerolt?

So Cid apparently not only been reused so much for every expansion, but also across almost every FF series, would you retired that poor sod engineer already?

Also chocobo retire that, and moogles too for that matter

Cid is pretty different in every final fantasy. When was the last time you actually used your chocobo as a mount? And finally there are already plenty of people that have called for the death of all moogles every since they had to deal with them in the churning mists.

I think the new Gerolt with his hair-weave is pretty cool. I think it was pretty obvious given the dialog in the main story and his new location that he would be involved with the new relic quest. Going to be interesting to see how they weave the new workshop location in Tempest into the relic quest itself.

I just hope the relic quest is fun. Personally I enjoyed Eureka and BA and hope we get something new. Last thing I want to see is a quest line that has us running old content over and over again.

The norvrandt version of gerolt will not be in the story. They already said the relics will be in the hrothgar homeland of bosja, which is in the source, where we will restore weapons that were held by the former queen's guards before the garlean invasian.

Humm... ok well seems like having a special workshop in Tempest for a small part of the story seems pretty odd but I guess I'll have to wait and see how that plays out.

I saw in the special site that one AGAIN Gerolt will be involved with the relic weapons. I am really tired of him and his kettles. There have to be other smiths that could fix the relics that wouldn't require some weird reason for him to be in bosja. Honestly the eureka weapons were not even legendary feeling because it was just junk he hammered together from mats we found. At least arr relics were ancient weapons of past heros and heavensward relics were living beings we helped create. But enough is enough, surely by now you should have let him pay off his debt or have learned his lesson or something. But no, yet again we get an endless amount of kettle references. It's too late for this expansion but maybe next one we could be spared Gerolt and get someone new and exciting rather than dull, drunk and cranky.

Trying to write Gerolt out of the game at this point would be like trying to replace Cid with some other Garlean inventor.

Rest assured that we'll be seeing Gerolt likely until the end of the game (7.X?) when he probably finally patches things up with Rowena... only to still wind up in horrible debt anyway.

I just want him to be free from Rowena. Maybe let Khloe grow up and have her be his apprentice. Since she likes stories, then she might like to know stories of weapons.

If you two paid attention to the lore behind Rowena and Gerolt you would realize it's the other way around. It's as much Rowena is keeping him on the hook as Gerolt giving her reason to do so on purpose despite what he said.

They were husband and wife, and Gerolt loved Rowena dearly. But she's obsessed with ambition and was about to get herself killed. Gerolt decided to step in and did certain thing - the short version is he bankrupt Rowena but at the same time saved her life. This made them divorce, and Rowena set out to rebuild her fortune/ambition, it might have started out she got him on the hook to pay back what he made her lose but this is just Gerolt's excuse to stay by Rowena and support her dream while keeping an eyes on her. He still loved her despite no longer being her husband. Remember Gerolt had paid off his debt several times, and each time he always did something dumb to be indebt to her again. Do you think he's that stupid? And someone as smart Rowena probably realize his intention long ago and just play along.

He is forever indebted to her. But not necessarily because of an overwhelming amount of courtesy fees (he probably owes the equivalent of a bar tab). His problem is anytime he comes across some funds or a commission, he pisses it away in booze. Rowena though, being the ruthless, cutthroat shark she is; likely uses that to her advantage to keep the world's best weaponsmith at arms length. If there was a better guy, Gerolt would likely be headed towards sobriety.
