For the record, I am the only person who did that.Seriously if you go looking random people up on whatever third party websites then something is very very wrong with what you are doing and you've gone way over the the line. Either ignore them or counter there arguments. It doesn't matter what they did, you guys went after them and stalked them to dig up stuff to personally harass them. There statements may have been crass but you went way over the lien with how you called them out on it.
Can you explain why/how it's wrong, in your opinion?
Again, you don't need to use any third party sites. Achievements and minions on Lodestone are a good way to get a rough idea of someone's level of progression. Verifying someone's credibility is a sad but necessary evil that you see everywhere. Far too many people will step far beyond their actual knowledge and experience and start trying to base their points on little more than conjecture.Seriously if you go looking random people up on whatever third party websites then something is very very wrong with what you are doing and you've gone way over the the line. This will probably be my last post in this thread.
But look how these threads always in up in fighting and belittling each other, heck I even got into a heated fight myself and the gm's had to step in.
This is why we will never have a parse in-game, we just can't be trusted.
We fight and fight over how someone is pulling low dps and that's totally fair, I get it. Totally do, I don't want to have a low dps in a savage fight or ex fight I'm trying to clear for loot or the first time as well IF they're holding us back and making us hit enrage.
But its just not a win situation. Nobody will agree on if it should be allowed or not.
This is why yoshi-p is ok with parses as a [don't ask, don't tell] because he knows people need it to figure out optimized rotations and helping people improve.
As a fourm member said herself.
"There is nothing wrong with parsers. What is wrong is often their users."
Personally. I'm not anti-official parse, I just prefer the don't ask and don't tell. If someone is sucking, just kick them. If they really wanted to get better, they can and if they don't. You can't force them, just let them keep being bad, if they get kicked enough they'll soon learn they need to stop being bad and get better.

You can keep repeating that line, and you can have your belief in what youre saying. But the bottom line is that I and many others here dont consider it that. My belief is you want to wade into a conversation, be bombastic, crass, and talk like you know best, dont be suprised when people go to see if you know what youre talking about. Because one of the pitfalls of forums and the internet is that people tend to talk out their ass about things they dont know to well because they think they know all they need to from very little experience OR assume people wont or cant catch them on it. This is bad for discourse at times as it can lead to people promoting false hoods.Seriously if you go looking random people up on whatever third party websites then something is very very wrong with what you are doing and you've gone way over the the line. Harassment would be me making characters on thier server and whispering stuff at them. Stalking would be searching out their FC, Friends, and etc and getting as much dirt as I can on them. Checking to see if theyve cleared savage or have even participated in it after claims of being 'that good' is no where near that. But I digress.
You may not like it or agree, but you have your opinion and many of us have ours. You can choose to keep trying and portraying us as 'bad people', being hyperbolic, and over using and expanding definitions of harassment and stalking to suit your feelings, OR you can say "Well thats my thoughts. Agree to disagree" and move on.
It wasn't random. A specific person made a claim about their performance, some people looked up information to check the validity of it and posted their findings.
I don't agree with naming and shaming in this manner, but the person was not definitely not randomly targeted.
This thread has very clearly illustrated, in a variety of ways, why SE don't want parsers.
My interpretation of this might be off but i think the point james is trying to make is that despite that person having an horrible attitude people going below their level and basically publicly shaming them is not okay. You can keep repeating that line, and you can have your belief in what youre saying. Go do your research and call them out but this was taken a step too far imo.
Not related to this incident anymore but if you resort to getting someone's parses to put them down as a player instead of picking their arguments apart then you're a petty person. Unfortunatly that happens in this forum quite a bit.
That pretty much was the point I was trying to make, thank you for making it better than I am able to.My interpretation of this might be off but i think the point james is trying to make is that despite that person having an horrible attitude people going below their level and basically publicly shaming them is not okay.

The thread is going the usual route.
But I mostly commented so that the person I extended the invite to will contact me on hours we are both on
Again weekends are best for me because I am usually on the forums during breaks at work.
Which sucks cuz my bad eyesight sometimes makes some hilarious typos I have to go back and fix when I can.
Part of their argument was based on the said person's dps being "fine*." This can't be countered without verifying it.My interpretation of this might be off but i think the point james is trying to make is that despite that person having an horrible attitude people going below their level and basically publicly shaming them is not okay.

*they actually made it sound like it was really good.
The base of the argument they made was that they didn't need a parser to tell how good they were doing, which is why the information was brought up though. The information quickly countered that.My interpretation of this might be off but i think the point james is trying to make is that despite that person having an horrible attitude people going below their level and basically publicly shaming them is not okay.
