So these kinds of scams are actually happening after all.

The one on Aether DC is legitimate as far as I can tell with no presence of dodgy links on their Youtube page, though it still doesn't hurt to be cautious when dealing with any kind of external link.

Yeah, it's essentially the same as the twitch scam, but on a different website. Stolen content, similar name to the content creator and a lovely link to a website designed to entice you into inputting your login information.

I got a tell like this last night. I ignored it of course, but the name wasn't mashed gibberish. Looked like a regular character name. I looked them up via search and they also had a few jobs at various levels.

I actually recieved a tell just like thata couple days ago, and my brother got one as well just yesterday. I checked the channel that had the video mentioned in the tell, it's DEFINITELY a phishing scam all the way. Hope no one falls for this.

Since the scam is built around stealing accounts, it's likely the character belongs to someone who fell for it, so the scammers have control of what was previously a regular character.

Assuming these guys are like the RMT spam bots, there's not a whole lot that can be done to stop them if they're using paid accounts.

It is starting to happen on Aether, maybe not to the same degree but there have been instances.
