Why Should YOUR Server Live & Not Be Unplugged?

Greetings!

As a server merger is currently in the planning stages, I would like to know people's opinions as to why they think their server shouldn't be one of those to be shut down. I know it's not up to the players per-say, but it's still nice to understand why people like their server and don't wish to migrate elsewhere.

Here's the generic answer to save you some time. "Because it's the server I'm on."

Why ask this question? What does it matter which servers are merged into which? The end result is going to be more or less the same regardless.

I'm not even sure how they're going to do it.

They may just unplug all the servers and make us choose again from a new, shorter list.

i'm on a small server. i don't care if it's my server going bye bye or another server being merged to mine. all i want out of the merge is to have more people to party up with so it is actually possible to do things on a daily basis. i don't care if the server stays named karnak or it changes to another name as long as the game can get to be fun playing with again. right now playing solo every day has gotten very old.

did they name a server after 14? that one should go first. then trabia... and then they need to change the name of a server to work with mystic quest to gut that too...

I don't even want to think of how much chaos this server merger is going to ensue (although I entirely agree that it needs to be done). At least in XI it was "All of you from world X are moving to world Y" which reduced the amount of potential drama of LSes/friendships exploding into different servers. Especially since it somehow become totally acceptable to be loyal to multiple linkshells (still baffles me) that will only exacerbate the problem. Linkshell A is going to Besaid, Linkshell B is going to Lindblum. Confused Player is going to.......... *blankfais* Luckily my network is small enough that we'll be able to stay/move with no issues.

I do wish SE would at least post a list of which servers are getting the axe so the people of that server can somewhat prepare for the mass panic. As to the OP, I really don't care which servers explode as long as I can find some *beeeep* party members.
