LS-Houses instead of Mog-Houses

I don't think a LS house is a good idea. LS is supposed to be a chat channel that links players, while free company is what other MMOs have as guilds. So, a personal home and a free company area make sense.

It would be really cool if they allowed free company leaders to create a custom map for the free company which would then be somehow incorporated in the game, for a very high fee so that only big companies can afford it.... but I don't see that happening outside fictional scenarios like .hack// series xD

I disagree with only LS leaders having a house, that's dumb. I think it would be best as:

-Personal player housing

-LS building (fortress, castle, guild hall, shack, whatever)

That way people get to have their own personal spaces to live in/decorate and then the LS as a whole has a large shared space that the LS as a whole can contribute to. Though you'd probably have to switch LS to Free Company but it works either way.

I'd like to suggest replacing Mog Houses with LS Houses since we won't really need Mog Houses as much as we needed them in FFXI. When they come out, they will probably be empty rooms used to store a few items and equipments only.

In FFXI, Players needed Mog Houses to change their jobs mainly, and then later to store items and do some gardening, which won't apply to us here.

So, How about changing them to LS houses? Only LS leaders get to have a Mog House, a place for their members to gather, and they all can store their own items there individually. I think it will be much better this way, and it will be a huge upgrade the current LS system.

Our homes will be used to store items, do gardening, have the possibility of personalizing it and much more.
Also, it's already being coded by the devs. It's something Yoshi-P put a lot of pressure on just like the chocobo (which means it will definitely be a win).

So, I say we need both personal homes and Free Company halls. Not linkshell houses, linkshells are like cellphones in FFXIV, not guilds.

OP, why do you assume that the houses will be copy-pasta from FFXI? They can come up with new ideas for houses you know...

I'm not assuming that it would be copy-paste from FFXI and I know you're right, they will probably find very interesting ideas for those houses.

I'm just thinking that it would be much better, and more fun if those houses are only for groups, Linkshells. Because a personal house, no matter how customizable it will be, in the end only you will be in it, even if it's publicly visible, at best, your friend will enter it once to see it then leave.

But if it's linked to your LS, it would be much better, because whenever you're in it, there will always be someone who's there, either crafting, or just sitting. And it will give more meaning to having a "Main LS" and focusing on it.

This idea might not be appealing to everyone, but I like it and I think it will give more personality to Linkshells. Rather than adding a new social system (companies) and complicating things. It's bad enough that every player now has 2 Linkshells to 8, why add another group?

But then again I might be wrong, it's just how I feel.

I see someone never met a Miqo'te with a weak moral compass. And it is for that very reason that personal housing should be separate from linkshell/company/cult or whatever communal housing they come up with. I mean who doesn't need a private place to rub pixels together and /emote. Does your linkshell really want to see that? Think about it.

A fair bit of mis-information going on here but that can't be held against due to the fact that there is very little information on this topic, but here is what i understood.

Patch 1.21 will bring 'Rent-a-Rooms' provided at an 'Inn'. (Lets not call them Mog Houses as you will be disappointed if thats what you want from this.)

After 2.0, we will have the opportunity to create a 'Free Company Estate', with a minimum of four players in the company. This will be highly customisable through crafting and may even be in 'open-world-zones' i.e viewable by everyone.

And in the last LFTP before the holidays, Yoshi-P mentioned this: "Mockups for player “estate” areas are moving along, and we’re now working on some of those artsy details."

Linkshell House would be cool. A liviing room / dining roon/ kitchen /. . . Please give us more than one bathroom >.< / And I still want my own bedroom. I will not fight for a spot on the couch. If there is no room, prepare to be sat on. How about a recreation room in the basement or something? A bar / air hockey table / darts / an arcade machine that can play old school Square titles?
