If the person in question actually had merit to things, it would be different. They have a track record. They're necroing specifically to fill the front page of the forums with old posts, some with intent to start arguments. It's annoying and it's spam.I disagree.
If an issue was brought up 5+ years ago, and someone decided to contribute, this would mean there is still merit to adding points of talk to the discussion at hand.
While the original topic creator may not be around to see your posts, someone might.
Like I can't tell you how often I'm doing my best google-fu on some obscure tech issue, to find a lone post on a small message board that had the same problem. With the only reply is just "Ah I figured it out thanks" and it's old and closed and I have no way to bring it up again asking him to actually post the dang procedure lol.
I could create a new topic on it but why not use the one that already exists? The guy that have made it might get an alert or something. It's my best lead and it's locked, it's a bit frustrating lol.
This is even worse. What's the point? There's no limitations on how old something can be before replies aren't allowed.
You're talking like this is some mismanaged 90's style special interest BBforum or something.
I wish there was an easier way to report someone on these forums for the repeated trolling. There's a couple of them, and I feel like just reporting their individual posts would seem a bit useless.
It's like a noise complaint in a noisy city. A single old grouch isn't going to send the cops coming, but if the entire block decides to...
Some threads need to be necro’d though. For example, the Hempen racial unlock thread. Plus, SE said they prefer us to post on a single popular thread rather than create multiple brand new ones on the same subject.
There's a clear difference between reviving a thread because you want to continue the discussion, and reviving ten threads in quick succession with such insightful comments as "you can reply with a quote by clicking 'Reply With Quote'."
I honestly don't understand why people respond to whoever necros the thread.
You're doing EXACTLY what they want.
Just ignore them, report them, and get it off the front page in a day or so.
Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]
I mean some necros are justified imo, sometimes its interesting to see old issues and draw parallels to current issues, further proving that SE doesn't pay attention to the english forums whatsoever, but yea...most necros are just eye rolling.
2.0 Veteran from 2013. Just looking to be helpful. DRK is Love, DRK is life.
(Ignore the levels on my character card, the tool i used to make it hasn't been updated for 4.0)
You're expecting people to notice stuff like when a thread was originally posted? On the internet?
The poster in question has been making it a habit of necroing threads with inflammatory titles, and people are just looking to be outraged or counter-outraged that they're don't read past the title and OP.
