So it's: cheaters and mean spirited people ruin games. That they do, but theres a lot of conflation between using a parser (which ultimately just collects combat log data) and using third party mods that affect fight difficulty. YoshiP did distinguish between these two facets. His concern regarding Parsers isnt about number crunching, its about harassment that he said ensues.
I like how everyone understands something different from what the devs say during the liveletter. And every time it's exactly what they wanted to hear. Seems like few people are capable of objectively analyzing what they said.
My personal favorite is this thread because
"We cannot do anything, if people have a little window on their screen showing ACT. We don't want to "scan" your computer for the software you have installed, that's against the law anyway."

...Not really? There hasn't been much debate over what was said. Just what people think SE should do.
Here's some others straight from Yoshi-P's mouth:
Like really, I don’t really think this is strictly about tools or mods, but like to distribute widely, for anyone to be freely access, it could lead to consequences not just to us, as although it varies in different countries and how it’s handled, the laws related to porn is very strict. And so we would like to clearly clarify things in regards to this subject… and it’s not about what’s right or wrong… It’s just ‘’NOT allowed’’. We would like to first and foremost tell everyone this. There's more SE can do, aside from scanning players' computers. Push them enough and they could step up security. As Yoshi-P just said in the quote above, they have already even, albeit in small ways so far.Going back to ACT, it has a function where you can add plugins and with this, you can add ‘’expansions’’. And these expansions, are not part of ACT itself, but are creations form further third parties. And such expansions, destroy game balance and it goes in the game memory, and it does bad things, and from our perspective, there are much more malicious ones as well. And in regards to this, we are very serious and the moment we find evidence, the risks of penalties is extremely high and we want you to understand this. Please keep this in mind. Even on our side, we have preventions, actually we started since around 4.0 and we actually added security to the data packets of certain actions so that players can’t decipher it. This was to observe how the plugin creators reacted and responded. And we are changing the methods continuously…. And… we want you to stop.
And if some mod does put SE in legal hot water, I would expect their response to suddenly get stronger. Yoshi was pretty much begging people to not force their hand.

Not only that, they also went into a tangent about how even if they see a parser, people could just say "it's giving me cpu heat and performance data" and they couldn't check to see if it's true. Which is obviously a blatant excuse for justifying not pursuing streamers/screenshots/videos. This liveletter just basically said: same as usual, except we're clarifying that bot like behavior from third party tools that auto-move markers, show un-telegraphed attacks, do your rotation, etc will get you banned. And sound based callouts/triggers are still somewhat an unknown

He said quite a bit more than what you're claiming. So yeah, um, that’s basically it. And adding a bit more to it, if something like this keeps happening, they may look at the mods and think what the heck is going on with the game and there is a possibility that they demand us to stop the game, or completely change the graphical data. There is a high possibility that this will lead to these kinds of things and so if you could please stop, we would be grateful.
Talking about parsing, not nude mods which your quote refers to.....Not really? There hasn't been much debate over what was said. Just what people think SE should do.

I'm stuck with that thing in many games I have and I hate it, as it messes up other programs on my pc. No thank you.
As a DBD player, I can assure you anti-cheat softwares are a pain. They sometime wrongfully detect something and just kick you from the game for no reasons.
So that's a big no-no for me.
