There will be complain but I can almost guarantee you it won't come from neither of the sources actually matter.

    - The people who prefer to buy it from mog station over grinding will most likely keep doing it anyway.
    - The people who refuses to use mog station no matter what will still prefer to keep grinding.

I don't say they will be the only complainers, but biggest complainers will be the crowd who will neither want to pay (the everything should already be in the game for free crowd) nor want to grind for anything (the this is too mindless crowd), or in short the "I want everything for free and I want them to be given to me on a silver plate" people. Again, while the move won't affect them, it'll just give them a stick to beat with. And of course, you gonna piss off some part of the other two groups as well. The latter will complain it makes their effort meaningless now that people can just buy it with money, and the former may take it as a scam.

So no, I see very little actual benefit aside generating a ton of new forum drama (if you're into that sort of thing).

I'd love to have more in-game ways to earn in-game items that are sold on the store. Just make the effort equivalent. Though rare FATEs like Odin are too dependent on RNG and would make the item unobtainable if they required too many items from them. So there would need to be a balance.

Yeah, and how do you define "equivalent of effort"? I can guarantee you the mileage will varies ... greatly.

    - A youngster playing on the parents account with strict allowance but have a lot of playing time will put much greater emphasis on monetary value (something they don't have). The would happy to grind for a whole week for a $15 item.
    - A working adult with disposable income but limited time to play will put more emphasis on the grinding part (something they lack). They would happy to sacrify some "starbuck" money rather then commit their limited game time to grind out for a week.

For example, as someone with a nicely decorated mansion in the game, I had received offer of 500+ USD for it, didn't need to pause for even 1 second to decline it. It's not even because "I don't RMT" (I do not), but I wouldn't agree even if the offer was $1000. It's also not because I'm rich enough to just shrug off 500$ or 1000$, but hell it's easier to make that much money IRL then getting a mansion in this game. Also I just checked, apparently it cost ~$1800 USD to buy 500000k gold (500 million gil) from gold sellers. I've been playing since 2014 and I have nowhere near that, give me a couple months IRL though and I can probably scrape aside that much money. Guess that's why people buy gold. Or say it takes about ~60h->80h or more to grind for the Eureka weapon at its inception, let's say we go with just HALF the minimum wage, so 5.50/hour, you'll looking at least at $330 ... I can already imagine the salt.

Right now the two line of items have their own unique appeal, and I understand the glamour of using whatever resource more available to you on something else that you can't buy with that particular resource (just like how weaver wish they can make cloth out of ingot in this game). But the moment you try to link monetary value into an equivalent in game items, you're asking for trouble. I haven't seen any game that tried it and ended up better (read: wow token). The only one exception to this is E.V.E, but then I always feel there are more managers and financiers in that game then actual gamer (like I opened a "beginning guide" and the author was talking how easy it is if you take certain step to be efficient and such, one of those step is to have 3 accounts).

And remember the argument will always go both way, you may be asking for "store item" to be available in game and once you do it, won't take long for people to ask for the other way around.

I prefer things how they are now if I'm being honest. Mainly because there isn't that much crossover from game to store and I rather keep it that way. Yeah old event items go on the store but those are different as those from my understanding can't be gotten in the game anymore. Then again I don't see a problem with our current system. Heck the items we do get in the game are locked behind modes noone wants to do. Like PVP to name an example.

Sure, why not? I love earning things in game, but I hate when it involves farming and RNG so you wouldn't see me grinding if direct purchase was still an option. Still, I think it would make a lot of players happy.

Oh I am on everyday and my chat is active and visible. It was the novice network that last found odin here on Lamia, not a hunt party, not someone looking for him. Just a simple lonesome novice player out minding their own business, Hunt parties here on Lamia are out tuesday first thing looking for hunts and spawning. Once they have killed all the s ranks barely anyone goes looking for Odin, behemoth, etc. Lamia is very much If cant be spawned dont bother with it world. Add in that he spawns at random and me having a full time job, yes its easy to go long time without ever seeing him no matter how much you play. I asked just now in chat when he was last seen, was told 10 hours ago so he was up while I was working.

Note when Odin was discovered by the novice he had 20 minutes left until despawn. Please dont assume that players who miss a spawn simply dont play enough or ignore chat.

Note: Taking advice from a players alt, is like taking advice from a voice in a dark room. Criticism is a two way street remember that!!

The store mounts are developed by a separate team and are not for profit. The proceeds go back into the game (more servers etc.) instead of Sqeenix's pocket. I don't think you will find them obtainable in game any time soon as that defeats the purpose.

I would be fine with it, but at the same time, I think folks need to stop complaining about vanity items and just pony up the cash for things they want that are mogstation exclusive.
It's kind of like asking an artist to sell you a painting in exchange for random tasks. I'm sure the artist would much rather have the money than try to figure out how many mundane tasks their work of art should be worth.

Would it not just be easier for people to 'grind' over time and save up real world money to use on Mogstation purchases...? A few pennies here, a few pennies there...
