Why does it take 200+ hours to reach endgame?

A little pointless posting at all then. Your vent would have probably done you more good if you'd simply screamed it in the shower or while beating up your pillow.

You are basically doing the equivalent of walking into an expensive restaurant and then complaining because you can't buy a Big Mac. FFXIV is all about the story. The story is its purpose. Shadowbringers was reviewed so highly because the story was fantastic. And no, SE aren't going to listen because 99% of their players love the story.

I'm not saying there aren't areas where the story could be pruned - yes ARR looking at you - but they are working on that rn

Because the journey to the endgame is the game. The so-called endgame is just grindy filler content to give people something to do until more story is released.

That is rather subjective. Plenty of people play this game for say, raiding—with minimal or zero interest in the story.

I do not think it's a troll thread just rather OP not stating the reasoning that they are bored, etc..
Like others have said this game has been around for years so do not expect to get to the end content in a day or week.
Myself i have over 900 total hrs in this game but i have also been playing for like 6 years.

Trust me, you dont want to rush to endgame.
It took me about 500 hours to get to it, but once you've ran the raids so many times it gets pretty old; i haven't played in like 1 or 2 weeks now and i used to play at least an hour everyday.
It's more about the journey, not the endgame

As a new player, I currently have 8 days 12 hours (204 hours) playtime.
I am not having fun. Currently lvl 78. Middle of Stormblood mainstory

Going to asked you this... If you aren’t having fun then why are you still playing it after 100 hours?
Also, What isn’t fun to you; Is it the story, gameplay, or what? Also, you should had try the free trail first.

Well, Square actually rework the game and now a lot more people enjoying it. This is coming from one new player to the next. Maybe FF online isn’t your cup of tea.

Maybe you're fixating on the game too much. Stop playing to get to cap, play when you feel like playing. Alternatively perhaps you're not enjoying the class rather than the game. Try what I did, start a new character for each job so that I'm running the MSQ with each. That way you will find out which is the right class for you and therefore enjoy the rest of the game more. Personally I started WHM and got to level 71 before I ran into a brick wal like youl. Rather than toss my toys out of the pram I did what I just described and am now having a hell of a blast playing a Ninja and a Summoner on different characters while also still bubbling quietly along on all the other classes too.
