Thank you for the response. I may not understand what "associated with a gear set" means.
Are you saying this is triggered when I have something equipped?
I associate the term "gear set" with it being a gear set item like scavean gear, etc...
Would still like a lock option, but this may suffice in the meantime.

Open your Character panel, and then click Gear Set List.

This lists all the classes that you have, as differentiated by the main-hand tool/weapon.

For each class listed, that is the gear set for that class.

If an piece of gear is assigned to any of these gear sets, then in the Armoury Chest, a little “note” graphic will appear.

If you reassign different gear, such that your previously-used gear is not being used in any of your gear sets, then the “note” graphic will disappear, which indicates that it’s safe to remove that item from the Armoury Chest.
