I would much rather them give us a healer sooner than 6.0, maybe in 5.4, and just go with a single job for the 6.0 expansion.

Healer and Ranged DPS to have 4 of each role.
Healer would be chemist with potions and brews for healing and buffs.
Ranged DPS I would say either Puppetmaster with ranged threading attacks along puppet control with high personal damage and AoEs or Viking/Raider with a crossbow/throwing axes with high attack speed and bleeds high personal damage no utility.

Stop saying 4 of each role when Caster and Phys Ranged werent always distinct roles.
At onset of the game there were 3 melee and 3 ranged.
We have gotten 3 new ranged such that they divided it into phys/mag.
Im hoping for a new melee/hybrid beastmaster (with ninja having some ranged skill already its leaning into this potential new subdivide of melee classes) and I personally feel it is deserved. but we'll just wait and see.
They were though? From the start it was obvious the two roles did different things from inflicting physical or magic damage and if they operate on casting or instant attacks. In 2.x both BLM and SMN shared a bunch of cross class skills that BRD couldn't because it's not a magic ranged DPS. Sure, they only started labeling them in Stormblood but it was there from the beginning.
The reason why Dancer was even picked or made into a physical ranged according to the devs was to balanced the amount of jobs for each role, because physical ranged only had 2 jobs while everyone else had 3 or 4. That's probably why they picked Machinist for Heavensward, too.
From this logic from the devs, the new job is a healer and another physical ranged DPS.

If I remember correctly Yoshi wanted to have 4 Mages, 4 Physicals, 4 Melee, 4 Tanks and 4 Healer. So I'm pretty sure we will get a fourth ranged, healer and mage (because BLU doesn't count) next.

We shouldn't consider BLU a caster dps. SE doesn't consider blu a full job (and its not).
Therefore a new caster dps is just as likely as a new healer (both have 3)

I still think Time Mage will be the new healer. You basically see (spoiler for Hildabrand) Vivi using time magic to restore things to back before they were hurt. I've heard they took a lot of time stuff away from Astrologian so that might be why.
Geomancer could be a new caster or a healer. I've heard it was mentioned in the Astrologian quest line, but I've always considered Geomancer a DPS... but then I've always considered Gunbreaker and Dark Knight DPSes so... what do I know.
Not sure what they could do for another ranged job. You have the bow user, the gun user, and the weapon thrower.
I don't think we will ever get Chemist as a healer tho cause we already have Alchemist as a crafter.
I'd be extremely surprised to see a new disciple of the land or of the hand.. ever.. But I guess we can't discount the possibility either. However, I think they'll keep BST as a potential DoW and name any DoL working with animal "shepherd" (as it was originally intended in 1.0)
Personally, the safest bet is a new Healer and with the lore already in place I'm pretty sure it's going to be GEO. WHM theme is slowly drifting towards "Holy Mage", diverging from it's CNJ's roots.. I feel we'd had GEO in ShB is it wasn't for the overhaul they were planning.
As an FYI, Bard was much more of a spellcaster in 1.0 with access to both thaumaturge and conjurer cross-class spells and Piety as their secondary stat. Bard moving away from that in 2.0 was a change and certainly not around from the beginning. They were pretty much the original hybrid of the jobs. And even before the jobs were released, classes were effectively all hybrids since they were such a mish-mash of cross-class abilities and dividing them into roles wasn't very meaningful. Then there's all of 3.0 were both Bard and Machinist were both effectively casters due to their mechanics.
Not that I'm arguing against your or anyone else's points on the topic, just pointing out it's not so black and white. It's more hybrid. (Couldn't help myself with the puns)
