I wish they added female viera... COMPLETE! At least give me more hairs... like c'mon!

I used to play Miqot'e but there are so many that I ended up switching a lot and also Au Ra have better figures to me.
It has been helped with the new 2b bottoms but the cats are flat way to skinny. I love Miqot'e they are nice but I find everyone too samey.
I like Au Ra they are more mysterious and mermaid like for me.
Viera i am not fussed or the larger female races but i see some lovely ones around. I never play a male character i am female and i love being female in game.
Would have been nice to extend the character creation its almost ten years since they did version 1 it needs more options.
I would have liked a half race like Hilda, and i would like to see the male and female added from the missing races.
Everyone to their own and that is why we have a lovely array of characters ^O^

Same here! There's nothing that quite has the unique flair of blood elves, whilst also looking good like they did. Male au ra come close, but it's still not quite the same. Male midlanders are a good compromise but, I wish they could be a bit buffer... the animations are a bit stiff but not as bad as some other races. Catboys have the most fluid animations of any male race and some good facial picks, but I just can't get into them. Male highlander faces are just meh mostly and the 1.5 that do work, I never find fully satisfactory. Their jump animation is also too stiff. The lack of racial zones and more prominent racial lore, in contrast to WoW and some other MMOs, disappoints me a bit, but unfortunately I dislike too much about those other MMOs to go to them.I haven't really been impressed with any of FFXIV's playable races. Midlander men just happen to bother me the least and allow me to create a character the sort of facial features I enjoy looking at.
In WoW, I was invested in multiple playable races. Distinct starter zones and deeper, more relevant racial lore helped in that regard. I absolutely loved blood elves and night elves in WoW, actively playing both back when I was invested in that game. I also played a Worgen for a while.
I just hope we see character customisation, texture and overall graphics upgrades in the future.
One thing I'll say about au ra, even though I rarely play females, is that it's a pity that they did not give them a bigger height range, like they did with Roe females... maybe up to highlander female height for max would have made them a more appealing option, and also left in the option to make them as small as they are now. As they are, I find them too shrimp-like.
It already updated them once with Cataclysm, and WoW also relies more on cartoonish, stylised graphics, whereas FFXIV does not.
Well, their attitude in recent interviews has been more positive to upgrades, e.g. here. Yoshi acknowledged previously that the engine is becoming an issue, something their development team is also beginning to complain about; we'll see whether it amounts to anything, but I am hoping we see some big improvements for 6.0.Console limitations, server limitations, small indie company etc. etc. please understand.
They don't seem to be planning on adding anything new to it either, coming from the answers they've given about more customization options. They can't or else the servers will implode, so I really hope they just rework everything and make it work.
Yeah, still can't believe what a botch job they were! I don't really have an issue with them, but a lot of people resented their addition because they came at the expense of supposedly more interesting races... the "delete catboys" and "no male viera pls" crowd sound similar to that bunch.

When the game's story becomes self-aware:

You really like that pic don't you?
And yes there are plenty of Au Ra but not as many as cats. I also said I switched because they have better figures.
Thank you for noticing my post![]()

I like the Au Ra very much. As for the other races, I like none of them enough that I would play them instead of Au Ra. So if Au Ra didn't exist, and I had to play another race I would probably never be completely pleased with my choice. While I liked the Miqo'te I played when I started, there always were things about her I didn't like.
I play a female character, so this is about the female versions of the races:
Miqo'te: I like their ears and tails, but I only like face 1. I also don't like their poses, some emotes are nice though. They are too playful somehow.
Viera: Too tall, not enough hairstyles, no hats. I like their faces (except face 4) and emotes/poses though.
Lalafell: Cute, but I prefer to play a character with normal proportions.
Elezen: Besides being way too tall, I only like face 1 and 2. While the emotes are fine, I don't like their proportions.
Midlander: They are ok, but I only like one face and the poses/emotes are mediocre at best.
Roegadyn: Too tall, only one good face (I hate the evil-looking face everyone uses). Emotes are ok.
Highlander: I don't like their faces, or their emotes and poses. At all. Also, too tall.

I usually play elves but elezen neck and shoulders bother me too much. I'm pretty happy with my au ra but the crabby horns are sort of unfortunate. I guess I just got used to them.

Midlanders are just humans. Not really bad, but not very interesting either.
Highlander males tend to be ugly. Females have this weird combo of looking tough and stoic until they emote, and then they throw tantrums at everything. It's kinda jarring.
Lalafells just aren't my taste. I've never been that fond of playing the smol race in any game.
Elezen have weird proportions, especially in the neck and head. And their emotes make them look so.....disinterested in everything.
Roes feel....kinda oddly unfinished. The males especially are really stiff.
Miqo'te aren't bad, but a couple of the female voices feel like I'm being stabbed in the eardrums with a drill.
Male Au Ra have a really weird run animation. It's a little too exaggerated. Females could use more height variance, the dimorphism is just strange.
Hrothgar aren't my thing. Never really fond of the overly bestial character options. (Also, the whole "screwed at the aesthetician" thing isn't doing them any favors.)
If Viera had more customization options, I'd change back and never regret it. But the lack of hair options and hats got to me after a while. Fix one or the other (or better yet, both) and I'll go back.
