A huge THANK YOU!!!! For FINALLY selling the Meteor Survivor Polo on the store. AND a huge thanks to my friend who bought it for me while he was at Fan Fest!!! YES I finally have my POLO!!!
Was it Zenos that gave him hope? Maybe I remember it not right but I thought that flicker of hope came from the birth of his son (the one that died earlier thanks to illness) and not Zenos? Also seemingly the first born was more like an Ascian so I think that it was Emet in Solus body who sired him.The Tales from the Shadows gives us a small glimpse into his time as Solus from a slightly different perspective. It seems like Varis had some reservations about him prior to the info we know, from when Solus(Emet-Selch) was first Introduced. It seems that Varis father was considered a "giant" among Garleans. And in contrast, Varis reminded him of the pale reflections the world became. But Zenos seemed to give him "hope" for some reason.

From the context of the paragraph where the hope was mentioned, it never names Zenos once, it gives more of the impression that when Solus first held his new born son hope began to fill him and then it left after Solus Jr (I have no idea what the boy's name was so Solus Jr it is!) Died from whatever illness did Jr in.
It's also a little odd that he would lose hope with Varis then gain it back with his great grandson but then never name an heir? My way of thinking is if he got hope back with the great grandchild, then he would have been more inclined to name Zenos as Heir Apparent.

Sorry when I was reading it and thinking about it I had a 6 year old screaming in my ear, so my thoughts were a bit scattered. I think I was piecing in info that isn't there because of what I know, like Varis having Zenos when he was 20, and knowing what Zenos becomes, since it aligns with Emet-Selch's agenda. It does make a bit more sense for the passage to be about Solus Jr since he was Reminiscing about his own son. It even says his son's physique was very imposing, though it caused him vexation. From the context of the paragraph where the hope was mentioned, it never names Zenos once, it gives more of the impression that when Solus first held his new born son hope began to fill him and then it left after Solus Jr (I have no idea what the boy's name was so Solus Jr it is!) Also I say we name his first born son, Lunaris. I mean he is just a pale reflection of his father after all, lol.
I like helping people with their Job ideas, it's fun to help them visuallize and create the job they'd like to play most. Plus I make my own too, I'll post them eventually.

Yeah, I don't think Zenos of all people did anything to change Emet's opinion on mortals. Solus's son was the only one to trigger that "momentary lapse", and Emet's cautious hope imploded when that son died. Solus then was unfairly cold to his son's son, Varis, because he served as a reminder of how foolish Solus had been to entertain the hope that mortals might not be so bad. I'd imagine that coldness did a lot to shape Varis's own coldness as he grew.
I don't think anything is ever mentioned of Solus's relationship with his great-grandson, Zenos, but it's all too easy to imagine him looking at that amoral killer and thinking to himself, "Yup, the mortals seriously gotta go." He might well have encouraged Zenos's horrifying nature, I suppose. Because chaos.
The special site for 5.2 is up. Anybody else overly reading the art as having a deep meaning? 3 sides of a crystal and its top visible. The top is basically the end of the Amaurotine civilization, the three on the crystal being Ardbert, Elidibus, and us. My tinfoil hat is on tightly, as we and Ardbert are two parts of the same soul. The fact that Elidibus is there is making me think...perhaps we and Elidibus are the same person or in fact twins? Hydaelyn and Zodiark are basically two sides of the same coin, so it'd be interesting to find out that Elidibus is either another us, or is our original self's twin.

I really hope not. I already dislike the notion that Ardbert an my WoL are the same person, let-alone the game telling me that she is also Elidibus somehow. I mean, it's nice that the game has offered a semi-plausible explanation for the WoL's op-ness, but it's one that really doesn't work in a game where players get to create their own characters. The special site for 5.2 is up. I think it was simply drawn that way to show his status as an Emissary. To quote myself from another thread:The special site for 5.2 is up. The Artwork is quite interesting, as Elidibus is right in-between WoL and WoD as well as the two opposing colours. Balance indeed.
I'm taking Lore way too seriously. And I'm not sorry about that.

Are you sure about the identity of the third person? The WoL in trailers and the like has always been represented by "Derplander" who looks very much like Ardbert - not like the person in the picture. The special site for 5.2 is up. There were strong hints during Shadowbrings that our soul came from the 14th member of the convocation in Amaurot, with Eldibus being another member. So it seems extremely unlikely that Eldibus would be same person as us. Eldibus is the only remaining unsundered Ascian, so his soul won't be shared by anyone. (Lahabrea and Emet-Selch were the other two)
