Not sure about that. I know I won't be buying VIIR at release but I will be buying Cyberpunk. Cyberpunk a fresh IP I don't have childhood baggage going into with (beyond enjoying the tabletop). VII...yeah I am going to wait a couple months for some honest opinions from people I know on that one.
This was delayed because of the data mine leaks, not for "polish." A few extra weeks is going to do nothing. Also, they delayed it to Good Friday, where in some countries the post office doesn't run, so no deliveries of the game. Also it is smashed between Resident Evil 3 and Cyberpunk.
This is most likely a fake date. I wouldn't be surprised if they delay to June/July at this point. It makes no sense to release it between those two other high profile releases.

I guess all of SE is suffering from resource issues?Well, it's disappointing to me that it's delayed. There's already a lot of games coming out during the next few months that I consider to be day one purchases, so my free time will be stretched rather thin. The leak was pretty huge though so I guess there's going to be a last ditch effort to apply more polish to the final product.
I actually don't know what anybody is talking about here exactly.

We'll see.
The Witcher 3 is one of the most successful games to launch during the last decade and Cyberpunk 2077 is being made by the same development team. It's a different genre so we'll see if it's as successful, though a lot of people are hyped for both games.
FF7 is also being completely remade from the ground up, though in the process a lot of things people liked are being taken out completely or changed which dampens the nostalgia factor considerably.
Go back and look at the announcement of FFVII remake at E3 2015, and all of its reaction videos. That presentation was a special time. Not sure about that. Cyberpunk 2077 being a new IP is exactly what would hold it back (relative to FF7R). Reality is this: Final Fantasy is the second largest selling RPG franchise of all-time, and of all those games, Final Fantasy 7 is the best selling of the bunch. The remake for that title is going to be insane, far more than an IP that we don't know very much about. Not sure about that. I know I won't be buying VIIR at release but I will be buying Cyberpunk. Nothing screams, "I made a convincing argument" like linking a meme. Keep impressing us, kid.
So, I'm a massive fan of Witcher 3, and I do consider it the best game of the current console generation, and it's not even close. CD Project Red deserves a lot of credit for that, as they rightfully should. But Cyberpunk 2077 is not Witcher 4, and is a very different game from Witcher 3. We don't know what we're gonna get. You can also make a strong argument that Witcher 3 was the exception to the series, and not the norm. And if you do that, CD Project Red doesn't get as much benefit of the doubt as they may otherwise. We'll see.

And FF7R? Second best selling RPG series of all time, and remaking the best selling game of that series? Yeah, it's a lot bigger than a fresh IP, and it's not even close.
And had it come out when first projected as a faithful remake I wouldn't be waiting. But delays, studio changes, content changes, and the episodic release nature have made me decide to wait for some trusted peer reviews and play something else in the meantime.
Never did I say it won't sell well, it'll sell amazingly well. What I am saying is Cyberpunk isn't going to die just because 7R moved release window again. There are folks who will buy Cyberpunk because 7R isn't 7, I am one of them. I can feel fine buying Cyberpunk out of the box because until CDPR burns me I trust what I am buying is worth cost of entry.
I cannot say that about 7R as I, and everyone else, have memories and nostalgia about 7 and the bar for 7R is much higher. Hopefully this clears things up.
