Why is glamour shaming still such a huge problem in FF14? Let's fix it in 2020.

I once got asked if I forgot to put my pants on this morning because my character was only wearing a bikini. I just laughed it off, saying I didn't need no pants, ma boi.

Such things do happen, but I can't say they are a huge problem in the game, really. Or, rather, they don't happen often enough to become a huge problem. And somehow I saw comments about somebody's glamour or race more here on Forum, than in game, and witnessed glamour shaming maybe once or twice in game directly. Though to be fair, EU servers are quiet for the most part of time - I barely see any chitchat in dungeons about anything, what to say about clothes.

As for why it happens... remember that behind the screen there are alive people. As long as we still have any kind of shaming in real life, it will happen in game as well. Some will do it for trolling, some will do it with serious face because they really think so. It's sad that people need to go through such comments, but I'm afraid there is not much we can do as long as it happens irl.

Just ignore them or joke in response. If they openly insult or harass you - report them.

Oh, he may have a point, whether it's from first-hand experience or if his bait just happens to be a valid concern completely by chance.

However, after seeing some of the other posts...I am not convinced that he is not a troll.

The other day while I was wearing my succubus glam I was standing near a friend (who happened to me male) and some lalafell walked up to him and says "of course I'd find you standing near an e-thot." You know what I did? Nothing. Just ignored them like they weren't there because its silly to get upset about someone calling you a slut for what your virtual character in a game is wearing. Continue to wear what you want as long as YOU like what your wearing. If they take it to the point of harrasment just report and blacklist them. Problem solved.

I was praised for some of my glamour like my Jasmine one but on the other hand I was told my Hrothgar was ugly and its glam was horrible :/

There is a certain level of conflict there. If you don't want to be called a duck, don't quack.
