Why is glamour shaming still such a huge problem in FF14? Let's fix it in 2020.

It's especially awkward since I'm just a g.i.r.l. who prefers the constant company of an avatar that is nice on the eyes.

The higher quality and quantity of "promiscuous" looking avatars is one of the main reasons to play this game over WoW.

Knowing it's some sweaty guy at the keyboard 99% of the time is unsettling, though.

For the second time this week I was approached by strangers who told me that my glamour made me look like a s*ut. I don't know what I've done to deserve this as I was quiet in the party and didn't say anything.

I can't fathom why people are so obsessed with glamours to the point where you are judged based on your glamour. It's incredibly shallow, not to mention hurtful to those who can't or won't spend millions of dollars to buy the latest high end clothing or spend real money to buy glamour.

I get that you're very proud of your shiny glowy sword but there is absolutely no need to put down those with lesser means who can't afford to buy those on the market board. I saved a lot of Gil to buy the Pagos set and I am deeply hurt that someone would call me a s*ut over that.

Hopefully in this new year, we as a community can get over the glamour shaming and toxicity that has corrupted so much of the social scene in this game. Before you tell someone that their glamour looks s*utty or looks garbage, consider if perhaps they did not have the same privilege as you to acquire fancy and shiny weapons in game or on the Mog Station. Thank you for listening and please spread this message and call out the glamour elitists that you know in the game.

Glamour shaming is apparently still a thing in 2021. It's funny when it comes from bikini catgirls who are barely wearing more than me. The irony seems to be lost on them.

got a hate"tell"from some random player about my bard adventurer plate (catgirl in a bikini top and blue lightning hair)
could not respond to said player because"player is in restricted area")are they a troll?
i swapped the portraits in my adventurer plates to show my main jobs in the shisui sets
including the aetherial purple background
sounds to me its a small minority of players who also hate revealing tmogs in WoW
who prefer criticising players who wear such outfits over keeping quiet i dont know

long post said player was put on the ignore list as soon as they wrote the tell
he didnt get me angry just confused

I never played that other game, but someone I know did and told me about that there. I've never ever encountered it on FFXIV, actually I haven't met a single nasty person if I'm honest.

tbh i could care less but it would help for these critics to not be so "bold" haha
also its weird because said player could look up my adventurer plate and criticise it when not in the same area as me?
Are they using macros to look up plates too now?

and no sexy glam like a bikini top and 2b legs/boots combo is not lewd
to me its kind of the ffxiv version of bloodscale plate/mageweave cloth(who plays both WoW and FFXIV probably knows these sets)
except that said combo i use for glam can be used on any job
i think its because those who think otherwise might have seen some edited images lol
