A colonel with war decorations is easily distinguished. Imagine every recruit gets a medal to wear on the uniform for finishing basic military training.

A king in pvp wearing his title standing among a crowd of people wearing titles from finishing quests and killing 100 generic mobs is just sad. Same thing for pets.
With regards to titles, there are common ones; but there are also the rare ones. Veteran players know which titles are the more prestigious ones. I personally don’t feel like my harder-to-earn titles are any less valuable because there are common titles around as well. But I’m also not hyper-focused on things like prestige in a video game.

It's one of the reasons I liked the dailies of WoW. Those put me out in the world for a decent amount of time every day. And yes, I know we have dailies, but three dailies for one zone post-ARR is not any sort of real time investment.

A lot of the zones in this game are beautiful. The detail put into the landscapes and the accompanying music makes me often wish I had more reason to be in some of these zones.

I miss Coerthas Western Highlands. I miss The Lochs. Hell, I miss most of the ShB zones, since they are pretty much one and done.
It makes me sad that after lvling most of my crafters and classes and amassing a metric crap ton of stellar clusters from hunts I have no reason to be out in the world within FF anymore. The World Quests, mixed with the world PvP system in WoW did make the world interesting, along with the rare spawn for pet taming if you were a hunter. I WISH FF could give more reasons to be out within the world going forward.

I guess you're not doing any content which takes you out in the world. In my case, I'm a gatherer so I'm out in the world every day. Other people would say that they do hunts or FATEs or other activities for tombstones/GC seals/XP if they are still levelling. A lot of people don't enjoy dungeons and do different content to get the aforementioned rewards. But it's hardly the game's fault if you choose not to do those activities

The difference is the stats. You have to be able to deal more damage (and be able to take more damage) to kill the higher level enemy in the same amount of time. The reason why there are different levels of the same type of enemy is so that they can be reused at different zones appropriate for different levels of characters. The reason why there are different levels is because people want a sense of progression to their characters that goes beyond the story progression.

That said, I do think there should not be an increase in stats at level cap, but "continuous progression" is what people seem to want. I play RPG (whether single player or MMO) mainly for the story, so I'd rather have story progression than stat progression at level cap, but it is what it is.

    Another gripe: faction systems....
I'm ok with factions if the two factions don't end up working together unless the factions are supposed to be allies rather than opposing each other as a means to do PVP. When it comes to WoW and the factions working against a common enemy, I'd rather the factions be dissolved, but then again, I'm not attached to Allince/Horde. SWTOR, for the most part, handles its faction storylines decently, I think, even having to create a "third faction" when it wants to tell the same story for players from both of the original factions, but it has too many choices that impact the story, which I don't like as much. I played only a bit of ESO, so not sure how the factions work there.

In the end, I'm glad there are no segregated player factions in FFXIV. I like having to explore one story in my RPG rather than having to create alts just to see the "complete" story. This might sound strange coming from someone who plays RPG for the story, but having one complete story experienced by one character is much preferred than having multiple (partial) stories told with multiple characters, especially when the stories might not fit together well.

Not everyone cares for the focus on dungeons/instanced content either - personally I hate it - but people pout, sulk and complain if the focus shifts away from it. Witness the recent furore about only one new dungeon. I would love no new dungeon and lots of Eureka type content, but I'm clearly in a minority, so I accept there is little point me demanding it.

There IS content that isn't dungeon-based. There is content that you can do out in the world. But if you choose not to do said content for whatever reason, that's on you really

There need to be MORE battle based content out in the world, but thats just me.

Jokes aside, I honestly just want More world Bosses and reasons OUTSIDe gathering and crafting, Possibly even public dungeons similar to BA like within Eureka.

The idea of the world being dangerous and there being rewards waiting is a fun idea to me. But when you've played for a while you dont have as much as you used to have. Heres to seeing more stuff going into 5.2 tho

I spend about as much time out in the world in FF as I did in WoW... probably more, relative to a fair amount of my time there (considering a LOT of it was spent doing instanced content for loot/achievements). I spend far less time lounging in cities in FF, at any rate. I mean, I can only do so many dailies and world quests before I wanna kick Khadgar or whoever directly into the Sunwell and take a three year nap.

Anyway I'm glad pets are so easy to get now. I love pets. Let me collect all the pets. All of them.

    2. Titles are like medals and likewise should be a privilege. Nowadays many mmo awards you with a title for taking a dump in game. Everyone has a title now. Behold Dilgid Aigit, Devourer of Hundred Pies!

    3. Clan names/tags should be of different font size and color than that of names. Same for title.

Can't think of more atm but I am too opinionated and critical to not have anymore.
And what opinions are these? I was expecting something thought out, or at least nostalgia driven. These literally matter zero.

    That's impossible, though.

No one plays Rival Wings anymore!

Want that 100 win mecha-monkey mount? Good luck!
