People want ranged physical DPS to do more damage because casters pretty much blow them out of the water in terms of damage.Without positionals melee lose a lot of optimization thought and it would further dumb down that role. It's already being trivialized this tier with easy to Levi and Titan just being a giant omnipositional boss most of the time and the rework to True North making further trivializing it. Melees need to keep their positionals.
On the other side I keep seeing people wanting the ranged DPS as a role to do more damage. If they want that, then I think ranged should have distance positionals where they need to be at optimum distance to do the full potency of their moves.
Positionals are a silly gimmick that worked when 'Backstab' was a core ability of one class decades ago but stop working when everything can reposition themselves between the time your ability is pressed and the time it screenshots relative facing.
I don't mind their existence but I probably wouldn't bat an eye if they were suddenly removed.
And they should do less damage because being a ranged means we trivialize mechanics and have it the easiest. Last time ranged did a lot of damage we just ran double ranged and said goodbye to the casters.
I would hate it and not come back to melees again.
I like it on my samurai.
Everyone wants them gone like tanks stances were ask to be gone, but it end up with tank jobs being horribly homogenized playing almost exactly the same, do you want that for your dps jobs? I dont think so.
Think twice before you ask for stupid things like that.
Better it be a clunky gimmick, than to have 4 jobs playing exact the same.

It's more engaging than... not doing that.
Again, I'd prefer that they were better, but having reason to regularly use your WASD or left stick in raids as melee is a definite improvement over leaving otherwise essential buttons so often unused outside of strictly scheduled (and relatively infrequent) mechanics.
Apologies, I don't play the classes - but last time I checked, SMN was pretty mobile, it also has res, a bit of utility, and currently is the strongest DPS - if I'm not mistaken.
I'm not saying physical ranged DPS should be brought up to SMN/BLM levels of play, but casters ARE ranged DPS. I see no reason why BRD got gutted for utility & damage., and yet SMN (with this current patch) has all of its tools +2000-2500 more DPS.
Please no, positionals are the only interesting thing about monk.
I wouldn't mind them removed from ninja, since they're so few and don't impact the class gameplay that much (I haven't levelled dragoon and samurai yet), but for monk it's imho a huge part of their identity.
The amount of mobility a caster can have is never comparable to that of a physical dps, they always have to cast while a phys has no reason to ever stand still.Apologies, I don't play the classes - but last time I checked, SMN was pretty mobile, it also has res, a bit of utility, and currently is the strongest DPS - if I'm not mistaken.

Positionals are good for a couple of things:
Keep my hands busy. Even if they were removed, I'd probably still be moving around because standing still is kinda boring.
Adds a modicum of skill to the rotations. Properly hitting your positionals and knowing when to use True North help widen the skill gap a little bit between players.
What I hate is mobs randomly turning. If hitting a positional was 100% on me, I'm fine with keeping them. Currently, too many clunky things the boss does that is out of my control. If they want to keep doing that, get rid of positionals or give us more true north charges.
