if "wise old man saves group of heroes from firey death" is ripping off FFXIV then I could make a story where that happens and be a rip-off.
This is definitely inspired because they are trying to make parallels between them and their struggles to make it a good game and SEs to maybe attract MMO fans since right now FFXIV is kind of in the spotlight thanks to Shadowbringers. But they are as similar as Gandalf and Albus Dumbledore from Harry Potter. They have similarities and one is likely inspired from the other but they are wildly different people most likely.
I'm from 1 MS in the future.
As written, yes.It should be pointed out that Gandalf pre-dates Ben Kenobi by several decades.
Visually, Ian McKellen's performance drew some aspects from Alec Guinness as obi-wan (albeit mostly in his mannerisms), and Louisoix as animated draws quite a bit from McKellen.
The entire thought process behind this being a rip off of End of an Era is laughable, and I ask that the OP watches more movies or plays more games before they make a thread like this again.
Its a rather common trope tbh
Hey you, you’re finally awake...
- Skyrim
Looks like I will having something new to play till another huge patch comes out for ffxiv. Trailer looked pretty good to it.
If you think books don't have visuals, you are clearly not reading them properly. Lord of the Rings has some very powerful and detailed descriptive passages which are very clearly utilised in the film.
Or have you never heard of visualisation. Or imagination?
It's likely just a coincidence. A character opting to sacrifice themselves in the face of danger is a pretty common trope in general.
