I would agree with that, interms of pure DPS while there's no way to really compare them side by side... I'd give the Grand Company the edge too.

Squadrons are outdated junk, which need to get removed and replaced completely with trust the very moment se updates trust retroactively for all of the pre SHB content dungeons.
Otherwise was trust from begin in just a waste of ressources.
It must be updated to all the rest of the gane, or adding it as a festure was totally pointless, because trust is in every aspect of its mechanics superior over squadrons, because you have more diversity, die AI works much better, not perfect for speed clears, but safe clears, without face eating all AoE damage like squadrons.
squadrons should get reworked into trust for ARR content, there are more than enough squadron npcs for all ARR jobs and the scion npcs like Thancred, Yshtolah, the twins, urianger, minfilia, krile snd a few other scion sub charas could be used for this and theres easy options to add trust for HW n SB too, just needs some time, but not impossible to make this happen

1 is the result, the other was the prototype. Squadrons have received no mention at all in a very long time.

Squadrons have far better rewards for the time sink.
What do you get for maxing out trusts? If they there simply to help progress through MSQ dungeons, then they've served purpose after Amerot.

Well I wouldn't go that far to say they're "outdated junk" per se.
Grand Company AI for healers and tanks is pretty easy to fix. That's just an adjustment to make the healers heal at like 60-70 percent down, and to cast a party wide Regen in their rotation. Tanks just give them an AoE Provoke, and a line of code to use provoke on any mob if another party member takes an attack.
So its not complete garbage, and its relatively simple fix.
There is one aspect of Grand Company I like much better than Trusts... its that they are fully customizable in both glamors and party configuration to adapt to whatever you are playing.

i totally agree. i dont see squadrons as "outdated junk". thats how im leveling some of my alts plus get gear to sell or trade in for seals. Could they use some work..i would say yes. give them the same AI as the trust. Also increase their level cap to 70 & give them some 61-69 dungeons. Plus I love the sending the squadrons out on missions to get the buffs.Well I wouldn't go that far to say they're "outdated junk" per se.

Maxing Trusts gives you a title, the ability to use pre-ShB glams on your Trust party, and access to Scenario mode, which allows you to use characters such as Lyna and the Exarch in your runs. Having a party of Trusts maxed gives you the ability to use dungeons to level 70-80 and/or farm tomes (via running Amaurot and Grand Cosmos) without waiting on queues or relying on other players in any way. It's not appealing to everyone, but it has a lot of appeal for some players.
For myself, I like being able to do the new dungeons on my own and learn the mechanics at my own pace, plus checking out the scenery and taking screenshots or reading the little bits of lore that are occasionally scattered throughout, without feeling like I'm inconveniencing anyone. It's also immersive for me to do that with the NPCs who are part of the story rather than random others. I'm really looking forward to the new dungeon, which looks gorgeous, and I am thrilled to have Trusts available so I can take my time and enjoy it rather than feeling like I should rush to keep up with other players. And because I have Trusts maxed, I can go back in and take more screenshots or check something out any time I want even after I run it the first time.

I honestly prefer player parties to both of them... while they have annoyances of their own, if they're generally competent, they're generally better. You can't grab multiple packs of mobs with either of them and AoE them down the way you can with players so the runs tend to be much slower... though of the two, tend to be faster with Grand Companies but safer with Trusts.
There are those times when no one is queuing and you just want to play something specific or during major MSQ story buildup
or... maybe you want to actually explore the dungeon rather than rush through it.
Those are the times I actually use these things.

I like how they have different backstories and hope they will both be kept in the game. However I wish they'd rework squadron mechanics to be more similar to trusts. At present the squadron members incredibly dumb and sometimes require babysitting. They largely make up for they lack of awareness for mechanics by simply ignoring any AoE damage (or so it seems at least), but on some bosses it's necessary to explicitly command them to attack particular targets. You can't really use any AoE damage abilities, because the tank NPCs are really bad at keeping aggro on more than a single target. The squadron members can't get any job abilities, which is rather crippling on later levels especially for the healer NPCs.

Or even a party of mediocre players. :P
Trusts/squads are SLOOOOOOOW.
This is a big plus, and the main reason I think Trusts are great. It's also another advantage they have over Squadrons - Squads only cover old content. Generally VERY old content. Trusts are usable in every new dungeon (at least, so far), so you can run it once with Trusts for the ambiance, and be prepared for grinding it with players later. For myself, I like being able to do the new dungeons on my own and learn the mechanics at my own pace, plus checking out the scenery and taking screenshots or reading the little bits of lore that are occasionally scattered throughout, without feeling like I'm inconveniencing anyone.
