Free Company Recruiting tactics, what do you prefer when being recruited?

People have been asking for several years for a way to easily block FC invites without blocking other things such as tells. The only "solution" is to create your own FC, which makes me wonder whether this is intentional. A new player running around will see that almost everyone is in a FC, leading them to believe it's a very social game (which in many cases it is indeed). But how many of those people created a FC just to stop getting those random invites?

Indeed it's always been ridicolous that there's no way to block invites. Although even then you still wouldn't be able to block those in tells.

I'm actually very turned off by blind invites and random tells with a copy/paste message. I'm indifferent to public channel copy/paste FC advertisements.

The reason I joined my current FC is because someone in that FC struck up a conversation with me via tells. They were recruiting yes, but they actually talked to me and didn't just paste a pre-fab message which I would have ignored.

Since I was approached as an actual person and not just another notch on the belt, and I had a nice conversation with them where they answered questions I had about the FC, I decided to join them.

I really resent getting blind invites or generic pasted recruitment tells in any game.

You can still create it. The only issue is that you'll have a notification in the alerts/notification section of your UI that says you need to add people to the FC. I went into the UI settings and minimized that notification panel to be as small as possible (something like -60%) and moved it to the lower right corner of the screen as far as it could go. That served a second purpose of not making blind invite notifications as annoying.

Then I transferred servers and didn't bother setting it all up again, but it is indeed possible to be in your own 1-person FC. It will have a "pending approval" status or whatever they call it, but at least you won't get more random invites.

When I was without an FC I absolutely hated getting the blind FC invites. I would prefer getting a tell and have the recruiter sell me on their FC. I’d want to be told what makes us a good fit for each other

I'll tell you what I do hate, the ones that send you a tell with all the details about their FC and want you to join. Also the ones that just throw you an invite without warning or ask if you're seeking. Preferrably I'd rather see a shout advertising or as I've seen recently, Fellowships giving notice of recruitment you can join for more info.
