It's not a niche tho, ffxiv is 2nd only to wow and is about to pass it in subs, and it's a main series entry in quite possibly the biggest rpg franchise in the world, or at the very least in japan. Plus fortnite has kinda been dying and the only people who really care to play it are small children and people who pander to said kids, most everyone else agrees it's mediocre at best. You're dismissing ffxiv more than we're dismissing fortnite. I personally dont give a damn about 'game awards', but the whole 'lol ffxiv isn't that good' arguement is laughably bad.

They say they like the game yet use terms like weeb dress up game? Yeah okay... don't try to reason with those type. They play the game I don't doubt but probably hate it's an mmo. Otherwise idk why they'd use terms almost insultingly like unless weeb isn't used as a insult anymore.

I don't really care who won. Kinda obvious what would win from the start.

Though what's funny is how the video was edited to add in a large applause. In the actual video shows only two people clapping.

Only thing I don't like about Fortnite is how it treats it's contracted employees. It's apparently how they release content so quickly. They just hire huge amounts of cheap contracted game devs and toss em away once they're done with em. Or wait till they quit from being burned out.

Its not being dismissive, 14s teams works hard and its there for all to see, Fortnites team copies other games and took the route of doing whats popular to make a quick dollar. FF as a game embodies all things people gave speeches about, from the hard work the dev teams puts in, to the love of the industry, the want to tell amazing stories, and creating memorable experiences. Fortnite will just be another shooter we forget was cool because the next shooter has the biggest flashiest animations and the new gimmick every uncaring studio goes after. While games like FF put effort into leaving an actual mark on its players. What the devs do and care about with ffxiv shows.

This kind of stuff that makes people call this community a big circle jerk.
FF is not the all might MMO as you guys think it is.
The game is pretty niche, its a cute anime weeb game that gets the same content since 2015. Not much people play this kind of game, as opposed to fortnite, which is easier to approach over all.
It's kind of funny tho, you guys claim that gaming media picked the nominees, so you shouldn't take their opinions seriously, and yet, you get mad because your dress up weeb game didn't won any prizes. Are you even serious lmao.
And don't even try to play "the ff team works hard yadda yadda" card when you could pretty much say that to every other studio out there, lol.
Don't get me wrong, even tho the game has its flaws, I still like it a lot myself, but stop trying to put it in a pedestal, get back on reality, folks.

Also as for *game that gets the same content since 2015* I wanna ask, How many portraits are there of beautiful women that are hailed as master pieces, how many songs new and old are there about someones first love, how many movies are about romance, how many tv shows, books, poems, operas, plays, are about falling in love.

You may see my point, art and entertainment as a medium is repetitive, you cannot reinvent the wheel, but you can make it better for general use and consumption. As far as a weeb game goes, you're playing a Japanese game, idk what you expect, and as far as dress up goes, I see you wearing the Edda outfit from the mog station, you would probably complain about the lack of the customization.

Its not putting FFXIV on a pedestal to say it deserves more then a nomination for the work people like Ishikawa, Soken, and all the people who make their work possible do.

And Lastly as far as Niche, FFXIV is probably one of the more popular MMOs out today, it WAS niche back in HW, but now it is a top MMO.

Say I'm a fan, act like its on a pedestal, but tbh it sucks that it lost out to a game that needs to copy Titanfall mechs to *be ahead of the curve*

There's a reason why Jump Force was in the running for best fighting game of the year, when Power Rangers Battle for the Grid is a 10xxxxxxxx better game.

There's a reason why Call of Duty Mobile won mobile game of the year over Sayonara Wild Hearts.

and obviously there's a reason why Fortnite won best ongoing game over XIV.

Those three points baby.

You only need to look at IGN and the other online reviews to understand who to really trust for your actual GOTY reviews. Because at the end of the day the VGAS are about who has money, and who's gonna make money.
