It certainly seems like they just took a list of every armor that has pieces going below the waist seam and 'adjusted' the butt model for that group. Unfortunately, that includes a whole bunch of cases like this one with zero need for the changes.

Sadly though, even without the overlapping top it doesn't look as good as it did. I swapped to the healer raid version for now because it looks slightly less awful.

As someone who has a slender build IRL, no. This is not a proportional bottom. Couple that with any female character who doesn’t have the bust slider at 0~25, and it makes them even more unproportional—because then they’re top-heavy.

It’s silly that, with literally everything else that clips in this game, they opt to fix this.

Having no personal interest in "butts" (I have one, I sit on it), I'm amazed just how much discussion goes into them around here...

Funny you mention "squeezed toothpaste tube" - that's the mental image that comes to mind when I try on the dresses. They don't just narrow the waist but also the ribcage, and it looks incredibly unsettling to me.

Well, the dresses do have corsets. That’s generally what corsets do: the cinch your waist but also squeeze in the floating ribs of your ribcage to make your torso appear more slender overall.

If they were "as flat as pancakes" they would be literally pancake-shaped with respect to flatness. It's not a metaphor, it's an exaggeration. It's fine to exaggerate once in a while for effect but people say it (along with the Hank Hill exaggeration) so often and matter of factly, it seems they believe it literally.

It’s a metaphor to say that the butts in this game are pancakes. A metaphor is a direct comparison of two things; and this metaphor is hardly an exaggeration. They are extremely flat, and it makes female models with any bust size that’s not as equally flat disproportional and top-heavy. Some of the “larger” female races like Roegadyns and Highlanders are particularly egregious because the body proportions are so off. More “petite” races like Miqo’te and Au Ra can somewhat get away with it, but it’s still there and noticeable. I’ve thought the butts were flat literally the minute I started playing this game—before reading all the hubbub about it on forums.
