    I don't get why they don't just have two 'stance' buttons like tanks used to have pre SHB.

    By default you're a dps.

    Put on tank stance for tank effects.

    Put on healer stance for healer effects.

    No stance, you're dps.

    No need to track down other players.

    Also a good solution.

    Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
    Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
    Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]

    Probably because it could be "abused" then.
    You pretty much want 2 tanks, 2 healers and 4 DPS in your team.
    If you can change stance whenever you want, it means that one guy tanks, and everybody else is in DPS stance until heals or tank swaps are needed.
    Not saying it is impossible for them to balance it, but they would definitely have to do some tweaks compared to how a traditional "stance change" works.
    They could make it unusable in combat, that would work too honestly.

    I think they should make it gear based though.
    For example by having three different wands with the same stats, each of them applying a different Aetheric Mimicry buff.
    Blue Bomb wand -> Tank.
    Red bomb wand -> DPS.
    Yellow bomb wand -> heal (because I don't think there are green bombos)
    This way :
    - you cannot change stance in combat
    - you are not wasting one spot on your hotbar for a skill you just use once, and never again within a fight
    - you cannot "forget" to buff yourself before entering a duty

    Being that it's a "limited" job, it's going to have "limited" effort put into fixing the endless list of issues it has. Simple things like this being overlooked is a large reason I dislike BLU so much and wish it had never been added if they weren't going to make it an actual job.
