Turning poetics into gil is most definitely doing something with them.I just... don't really understand this being the majority argument. I mean, I get it, convenience and all. But, the arguments still boil down to "this is all junk that I'm spending just to sell off again." Why not... just save yourself the time and trouble and just let Poetics stay capped? If you're not really doing anything with them, you're just wasting your own time and effort just so you can feel like you're getting some perceived value out of it. They're meant to be a catch-up currency, so, if you're all caught up, could just start ignoring it.

I am one who earns poetics often and spend them on gear to turn in for GC seals. I feel it wouldn't hurt to raise the tome cap specifically for poetics only.

"Break a warrior's body, and he will thirst for vengeance. Break his spirit, and he will clamor for peace. Judge my methods distasteful if you will - but know that I seek to end this conflict, not prolong it." - Yadovv Gah, Final Fantasy XIV A Realm Reborn

This is one reason why I am ok with the 2k cap. Another reason is because I already know that it doesn't matter what the cap is. Players who can't stand or tire of making trips to previous cities to spend older tomes will still let them cap, and still come asking for it to be raised. Pretty sure SE is aware of that as well.
