    Making jobs spam the same move more than once feels boring

    So pre 5.x, jobs had relatively interesting rotations. It seems that in 5.0, the way they convey the evolution of jobs and the power we gain is that we simply get to use our most powerful skills repeatedly. This is cool for a few jobs but almost every job gets this at higher levels and it feels "samey:.

    SAM has Midare Setsugekka, then in 5x they get a skill that lets them do it twice.
    WAR has Inner Beast/Fell Cleave, and has a skill that lets them do it 5x in a row.
    PLD's requiescat lets them use Holy Spirit 5x in a row for higher damage
    DRG's Nastrond is used 3x during Life of the Dragon
    BLM at higher levels can repeatedly Flare


    I understand that psychologically, letting us use our signature special move more than once demonstrates that "oh yeah, our character has gotten stronger that they can use their ultimate move more now than before" but it's getting too predictable. In 6.0 are you going to just let WAR spam Fell Cleave 7x?, lower recast of Nastrond so we can fit 5 in a window? I'm hopeful that moving forward, they flesh jobs back out from all that they culled in 4.x and 5.x and stop the pattern we saw in 5.0 of seeing jobs use their strongest skills back-to-back to demonstrate power gain.

    Half of those aren't really spamming though, a lot of it is basically a "charge" in a cool down, ex. Midare. You can only use the double once every 60 Seconds.

    As for PLD, it's 4x holy spirit - confiteor. It's a magic rotation. There would be unnecessary bloat if they added a magic combo just for "not spamming the same skill".

    Nastrond is just a long CD ogcd, it's meant as a burst phase.

    Really the only one that's spammy is war imo.

    Surprised DRK didn't make the list here lol. Valkyrie basically said exactly what I was gonna say. I'll elaborate a bit on a few points.

    DRG in Heavensward used 3 geirskoguls/minute. In StB they got Nastrond which itself hasn't changed since StB, so I'm not sure why ShB is getting the blame on that one. In fact ShB gave DRG Stardiver, which is an entirely new "signature attack" that can be used once per Life window. In either case it seems like a bad comparison to look at Fell Cleave and compare it to Nastrond, because you're not pushing Nastrond every gcd under LotD.

    Flare spam has also always been a thing. Even back in ARR. Flare > Convert+Swift > Flare > Ether > Flare. Is it easier now? Yes. But the playerbase has always been capable of it. Also no mention of Fire 4, just Flare? Even there though, BLM got a new finisher/signature to punctuate the end of it's fire burst in "Despair."

    Don't play any healer. They arguably have the highest amount of underutilized skills out of any role. And when I say "underutilized", I don't mean we don't use them, I mean they're saturated with healing abilities to the point that gcd healing has been alienated and demonized. However, with all those Insta heals, we get very large windows to smash one button till our IQs drop.

    I look forward to getting yet more healz in 6.0 *sigh*

    Honestly I'd rather use the same powerful ability a few times than have a bunch of similar abilities that only feel different because of their icon and the fact they take up an extra hotkey slot.

    As a (former?) healer, I get the healing comments. But as a (current?) DPS, I also get the OP's comments. I think the repetition of hitting one button multiple times for any class is dull. So, let's just agree that "spamming" one button for any class is no fun...

    (But I swear to Rhalgr that if they took this feedback and "fixed" the "spam" problem with DPS classes first or only, I will take my healing brethren and summon a freaking primal on them. Becoming touched in the process would be worth it.)

    3.0 healer was fun, you had 2-3 DoTs, ground AoE, Virus, Regens, Shields and some unique buffs across the 3. Homogenization is balancing but also super boring. Now that all the jobs within a role are like 80% identical kits, maybe peel back a layer or two and diversify them gradually again moving forward? The way it is now, every job has an answer to a similar skill within the same role with few if any being truly unique outside of animation.

    Every job has some sort of repetitive mechanic to their rotations. Some just have more than others. That's part of why they're called rotations though because it's doing the same things to get the same or similar results.
