More Hairstyles for Viera & Hrothgar

It's an issue some people feel as passionately about as others do their forum signatures, I suppose.

I imagine people are wanting more clarification as there's quite a lot of mixed messages being sent in regards to how the Hrothgar/Viera situation is going to be addressed moving forward.

I appreciate you @Theodric. This is pretty much my issue, there isn't enough clarification as it still feels up in the air.

Honestly this is one of very few that's more general and covers both races right off the bat - think I've seen maybe one or two others total? And haven't in a while. It's almost all Viera posts I've seen

Anyway yeah, really hoping we at least hear an update on this soon. Even a hey yeah we're still working on it would be better than the cool and spicy nothing we've gotten since what, close to four, five months ago now? Or whenever that one live letter was where they mentioned race unique looks...

A lot of the hairs shouldn't really even have too many issues being adapted for viera specifically. People always bring up the braid clipping with the ears, I'm using it currently. There really are a lot of other - tons actually - unlockable styles or base styles that don't have that, at all. Hrothgar is a weird issue since they can't really have new hairs, you pick one and you are done unless you use a fantasia. Even if they added new styles or new faces with new styles they would still need to fantasia to change it.

Maybe it's to do with head items being made to fit the hairstyles (badly) on Viera. So many corsages just float off a Viera's head. If they used some of the other less poofy hairstyles from other races/aesthetics, they'd float even more.

Yeah, but stuff floats on hrothgar, really jarringly too. There was a ridiculous picture, I wonder if I can find it..

Other hairs on the base races will fully cover some circlets and stuff. I am pretty sure they just fit those to the head. Either way I don't think they care if stuff floats looking at that hrothgar example..

Thats what I'm saying. Haven't heard anything since release yet more hair and gear are coming out that we can't use. It is that fact that makes me feel like they honestly won't be adding much for the Viera or the Hrothgar anytime soon.The Helms are one thing but what is the problem with getting hair for these races. Hrothgar got the shorter end of the stick.

As someone who is one of those who point to Form and Function as an example I'll say I do it because.
1-It's a newer, HQ hair style that you either have to be lucky to get or just buy outright.
2-It's fairly popular and demanded.
3-People made a mod for it and many people still don't see just how damn silly it looks on Viera.

I could break down and analyze the aesthetics behind what I think the devs see as the "rules" to making a Viera hair style look right and I could make a laundry list of shared hair styles that either do or do not fit those features (which is why I think the devs said only SOME could work on them at first, when they talked about it as if they would just add some shared hair styles). But really Form and Function is a great example of how bad it is to try to retro fit lots of styles to a head that has such restrictions on what can logically happen on the top of the head.

And given the nature of people ... just making something like the Make it Rain hair work (It's just a spiky anime ponytail with a poofy bang and all the hair goes straight back. Could prob work IMO) would open the flood gates for people to demand every XYZ hair come without thinking about how shit it would look. Hell, people already complaining about Viera not getting all the new head gear like the PVP. Like yeah, the Mask and Visors work ... you're not getting the healer hat though cause that's pretty much one of the types of head gear they don't give ya.


As for this thread, don't think the devs forgot soooo IDK why there's not just 1 thread people keep this in. Also don't think the devs need to talk about this every month, they said they would come but later than normal hair releases and they wont end up having as many as other races regardless.
