So right now I'm going through all my 80s to determine the jobs I adore and the jobs I loathe to play at endgame. I get to AST and queue for Eden 3 and 4, get slotted into an Eden 4 in progress. Cool, no problem, I get to help out a group that had a healer drop for whatever reason.

Oh my goodness this group.

Tanks were both soaking the tankbuster at the same time, and getting up to 4-5 stacks of Vulnerability.
The two dancers spend have the battle on the ground or running around eating Vulnerability stacks.
I watched the WHM spam casting glare while everyone needed heals, people were dead, and I was oom trying desperately to keep the raid stable.
We went through 7 transformations. I don't remember the last time having that many transformations.

We get it down, and I get the snide "You guys need to spend more time healing".

There's a good chunk of my hair missing from me pulling it out.

Good news, though. Still love AST far more than SCH and WHM.

I loathe ranged dps who stand out in Narnia while in a damage intensive fight. Like if you aren't going to make the effort to stand in range of my aoe heals, i'm not going to make the effort to keep you alive. We were in the Copied Factory, and This MCH consistently stood as far away from the healers as possible. I tried to yank him in several times and he just bee lined his way back to his corner so he could edgelord it up. I told him "Stand in range of my heals" and he retorted with "I'll stand where i wanna stand". So i brought out the old "Then perish" line and made a point to never directly heal him, he would only be healed by my AoE abilities.

A couple deaths later, he started standing in range.

It's always the people with some variation of "wolf" in their name, or something equally edgelordy. News flash kids, the lone wolf starves and dies but the pack survives. I don't care what your RP persona is, we're trying to clear some content.

I'll admit to sometimes doing that on BLM. But I'm not doing it to look cool or anything. I'm doing it to be out of range of point-blank AoEs, because any kind of movement is death to a BLM rotation.

There's no reason in the entire world for a MCH to do that.

So, I have an alt that I just got to Titania, and I have been putting off taking her through because I don't like doing that fight if I'm not healing.

I finally decide to take her through, I watch the cutscene so I can enjoy the story again.

As soon at the gate goes down, my cotank is barreling in and pulling... Without their stance on... (Which I am not mad at, cause I have done it before... it happen...)

I queued with my stance on and didn't get synced, so I lob it and take it after a few of the DPS get a love tap. The other tank doesn't put their stance on until someone reminds them in the chat. They're better geared than me, but I had aggro and I was confident, so I don't give up. There is no reason to trade aggro at this point.

But they continue to try and take her from me.

And well, I usually don't like playing aggro games, and I'll shirk someone before I fight them... but I hold on. They keep on standing in the front like they wanna take her. Nope, not today. They nearly die to growth ruin... and provoke while they are dying? So I voke it back... because NO... Today she is mine.

We get to adds. I mention I would pick up Pease before they spawn in, but they run in and get it. So I just get puck.

They promptly die to the tank buster and I end up with both of them. I make a joke about how I guess I'm getting both of them.

The next phase they go for mustard and don't pick up either??? So I pick them both up...

They continue to stand in the front of the boss after adds. They have two vuln stance and eat a divination ruin with me, bringing them down to less than 25%...

I'm like, little catfriend, stop... please... Stop fighting me.

Thank you healers for keeping us up, and for the dps for doing a stellar job too. XD Cotank... Don't try and take aggro after you already messed up in pulling!!

This has been driving me nuts in the Copied Factory lately. My dude it's not my job to chase you. This is not tag!!!

Or we have door #3: A GCD from the healer is worth more damage than a GCD from the tank. If I can sustain myself with Clemency alone, the healer can focus on DPS, and the mob pack dies faster because they do a whole hell of a lot more damage than I do in a single GCD.

There's also another point: I straight up do NOT trust the healer. If my HP is at 40% or 30% or 20% and showing no signs of increasing, then you're damn skippy I'm going to use Clemency. Because if I die in that scenario it's my fault.

What pld could do with that gcd for aoe(no other cds or abilities needing to be used):
Total Eclipse - Delivers an attack with a potency of 120 to all nearby enemies.

Prominence- Delivers an attack with a potency of 100 to all nearby enemies.Combo Action: Total Eclipse, Combo Potency: 220, Combo Bonus: Restores MP

Holy Circle- Deals unaspected damage with a potency of 250 to all nearby enemies, costs 2000mp(same as all pld spells)

Here is what whm has for aoe gcd(same stipulation as pld):
Holy- Deals unaspected damage with a potency of 140 to all nearby enemies. Additional Effect: Stun, Duration: 4s

Here for sch(same stipulation):
Art of War- Deals unaspected damage with a potency of 160 to all nearby enemies.

And finally AST(same stipulation):
Gravity- Deals unaspected damage with a potency of 140 to target and all enemies nearby it.

Now scaling is different across the jobs but from flat potency the moment you get Holy circle your aoe is better than healers by a decent amount in a single gcd, if you were mid total eclipse combo your aoe is better than healers, it is more beneficial for plds to use their aoes over all healers so unless you flat out don't trust your healers, don't use Clemency, it is not worth the healer gcd, your gcds are more desirable for the group.

Rabble rabble people still not stacking in E2 even after all this time, rabble rabble...

To clarify - people stacked, then ran out of the stack before it hit, resulting in myself and one other person getting atomized. I shortly after accepted a rez on reflex, juuust as the boss was gearing up to knock the party off the platform, killing myself. Well done, me!

Later in the fight, the OT gets the stack and runs away with it to die alone. Thanks, I wanted to spend mana on a rez for no reason. Come oooon... Oh well, evens out (?) I guess, since I derped earlier.

I'll admit that I do that on MCH, because I can't think to dodge while doing the big combo, but I am at least smart enough that if I notice my hp getting low, I'll run in and catch heals. Course, trying to do this in the factory is ... just beyond the limit of my abiliy, sadly. I either don't notice, or I can't find the healer.... but at least I've got the decency to not blame the healer, and thank them for keeping my ass off the ground as much as they can.

I tend to stand on the outer edges of the group in alliance raids just so I can see ground AoEs under the press of bodies (and yes, I have effects turned off for other parties to reduce visual clutter). I run in for healing during/after raid-wide attacks, then move out again for dodging room. Most of the big damage is avoidable as long as you can see where it's going.

Just want to quickly mention that I have been trying to pug e4S for three weeks now and have been unable to reclear because this community is just such a beacon of intelligence, such a wall of common sense, a fountain of competence, that reclearing isn't in it for me anymore. It's like all the actual competent players stopped doing savage and are doing Ultimate content and now all that is left is a swamp of mouth breathing grasshoppers who's sole purpose it is to fuck things up, repeatedly and shamelessly. Honestly, if you want to conduct a scientific experiment to gauge the bottomless stupidity of human beings, look no further than the FFXIV raiding scene in EU at this point in time. That's the end of my rant and I feel better now. Thanks.

Co-tank, why will you not swap targets during the add phase when the debuff swaps? WHY!?

[-] Now scaling is different across the jobs but from flat potency the moment you get Holy circle your aoe is better than healers by a decent amount in a single gcd, if you were mid total eclipse combo your aoe is better than healers, it is more beneficial for plds to use their aoes over all healers so unless you flat out don't trust your healers, don't use Clemency, it is not worth the healer gcd, your gcds are more desirable for the group.

The damage scaling difference is bigger than you think. I tested this by taking my *unmelded* i445 WHM with an i440 weapon (totaling 3740 Mind) to Holy spam a training dummy. Damage average from the Holy was 6372 per cast (eliminating crits and directs, not that there was any of the latter). I then took my *fully melded* i470 Paladin, and equipped an i430 sword to balance things out a bit (totaling to 4178 Strength), and spammed Eclipse+Prominence on the same dummy. Again, eliminating crits and directs, dealing on average of 2617 and 4881 damage per hit respectively. Note that even with this gear discrepency, Prominence would need the FoF boost of 25% to be even in the same thousand group as Holy (and still not measure up), not to mention Eclipse being even weaker. Holy Circle does about 5k (didn't test that one out as much), so it does definitely get stronger than Holy under Requiescat. But that also means the only situation where PLD would do more damage than a White Mage in AoE is during Requiescat.
Unless of course there's something off with my testing, which is always a possibility...
