I think the gil, any event items that can no longer be acquired via gameplay and mogstation items at the very least should be held for an infinite amount of time. It actually makes their mogstation items less valuable, especially those items that even within the 35 day collection limit may not survive (example: mogstation exclusive wallpaper on a partition). Most people probably aren't looking to rebuy these items over and over again, even at their sale price tags.

I agree with OP, the system is not good. We are stuck with it even though it was originally stated they would not demolish houses. Don't buy from the Mog, I don't.

The system does have some stupid loop holes that people miss and makes us log in even when we are on a break. But this has been the system for like two years now, it's known when the demolition is and what happens to the stuff. If you're unsure you could just google this stuff, it's all there.

It's sad that you expect it all to be left while you are inactive and there are loads of active players wanting housing actually. The npc even holds your items EXTRA time after deletion so you were not just 45 days inactive for this to happen. :/ Sorry you feel it is unfair, but it really isn't at all. Try apartments if you want to be inactive that long. They never clear.

I agree with the OP, the current system of deleting furnishings, unless the are picked up shortly after a demolition, is unnecessarily punitive. I can think of no other modern subscription game that deletes their customers' virtual assets like this. It seems crazy to me that people accept that even when you are paying a sub, your housing items are not safe. This not only affects people who own houses and have them demolished but also people taking a break who may be kicked out of their FC (something they probably won't even know about until they log in again).

Storage is not expensive; there is absolutely no excuse for not holding onto furnishing indefinitely, in the same way that the game holds all your gear/glams/tokens etc if you decide to take a break.

technically the furnishings are not in your inventory when they've been placed in your house/apt. so they are no longer "yours".

But you just stated that stored isn't free. That's absolutely reason to not hold onto a huge amount of data for a player that might not even return.

OP said she knew the risks, so she could have taken the simple step of storing her furnishings indefinitely. Instead the OP decided to feel disrespected because SE did what they said they would do according to the housing rules.

And you didnt even have friends whom you trust so they can log in as your character and enter your house once to reset that timer? Could save you the house let alone furnishings.

I don't think that the game should just hold onto things indefinitely. If someone has quit, their items would just be sitting there until the servers shut down. I do however think that any speciality items, seasonal items, or items bought from the mog station should be purchasable in game for a nominal fee. You can go get replacements for AF gear, veteran's rewards, seasonal clothing from NPCs. Why not housing items?

I also don't agree with I'm paying my sub so my house should stay indefinitely. You pay a sub to access the game, not for housing. If housing had its own sub like retainers, then yeah, it should always be there when you come back, just like your retainers are.

Other players, even if tenants, can't reset the demo timer. Only entry by the owner will do that.

Tenants can remove furnishings if given that permission. I've got that arrangement with a friend who will sometimes decide to take long breaks so I can grab his valuable furnishings if he decides not to return before demolition (hasn't happened yet but he's cut it close a couple of times). Not every player has close friends playing on their server to set that up, though.

This is another suggestion that's been made several times by players - let entry by tenants reset demo timers. Supposedly part of the reason for allowing tenants in personal houses was so players could share a house and hopefully reduce overall demand for the limited resource. It doesn't work too well since the tenant will lose access if the owner can't play for 45 days. They might able to salvage furnishings if they have some place to store them but they'll no longer have a house to use. Many players end up wanting their own house as a result.
