SE, the concept of "Limited Jobs" is a really bad idea, turn back now

I mean, this horse has been beaten, rez and beaten again, but it's totally possible to have BLU working like a "spell collection minigame" AND a proper PVE caster.

Just have the job quests revolving around collecting a specific set of spells that are designed to work in PVE group content. Heck, make the BLU spellbook have a separate section for them.

Blue mage could fill as a support-type caster, like Red Mage, but with different niches.

I hate the the idea of "Limited Jobs" and the way Blue Mage was implemented so much I would not mind at all if they completely reworked it into a full job and counted it as one of the new jobs we get in the next expansion I hate it that much. The thought that they would consider adding another or even taking dev time to polish the turd that is the current state of BLU is a little saddening.

70% of their spells are already literally the same thing but with different animations/elemental damage. It'd be interesting to collect a certain amount of spells as their base mechanic and have several "skins" for players to collect.

I know a few people who would have wanted to "main" BLU. I feel that, despite being able to play every job in this game on one character, there is still a palpable sense of identification and ownership with one's favorite job. Friend of mine has been a SMN since 2.0. She's played other jobs and enjoyed the content with them, but she keeps going back to SMN. I think it's a shame this kind of "this job is the one for me" feeling is lost when the job is barred from functioning like a regular job.

I'm also one of those people that wanted to main BLU and some of the new spells in this patch are what I thought we would get with a real job version so it's just made me want an unlimited BLU more.

I feel like Aetherical Mimicry and BLU raids go totally against even their own initial design. Slotting BLU into normal roles like that just feels like it should've been a fully functioning job from the get go. It's not even the solo job they announced it would be. You're forced into parties to get your spells yet again and even getting achievements for doing raids.

Been thinking about this for the past week (especially more so while leveling BLU on an alt when it first came out) and debated making a thread about it but because we already have quite a few BLU threads I opted not to because I didn't think I could coherently (or constructively) make this sort of plea. Glad I didn't, because OP basically put all the collective thoughts together in one post clearly and eloquently (a skill I don't have xD). I really hope the dev team sees OP's post and takes it into serious consideration.They've already done a lot of damage this expansion. I really hope they listen to playerbase and don't do any more big, wasteful mess-ups that might cost the game because it's a really great game.

Yeah. If BLU is meant to group with other players and isn't totally OP, why do those other players have to be playing the same job? I don't get it.

Treat BLU as a mini game and there's no longer a problem I think.
