Uhh. Maybe Masamune is just low pop? Cause there's been nonstop level up animations on my screen to cause a seizure. I want to know what you think a success is if this is a failure.

I got 2 jobs, one being full time. Sounds like a you issue with how you prioritize time and XIV as a whole.

Only thing you'll miss out on is seeing the zone change over time, which to be honest was already the case in this game for Revenant's Toll and Idyllshire. It's a neat novelty to put players in somewhat control of that process this time around, and while a Doman Enclave approach might have worked better from a "No child left behind" standpoint, one thing I do think XIV sorely lacks is world events to actually justify the MMO label. This is exactly that, a world event. Sadly you can miss out on those, but that's what makes them interesting IMO.

In terms of what you miss out on though, again it's only seeing the zone evolve. You can still contribute and earn Scrips regardless of participating in the FATE and earn all those rewards. You can still get all the flavour text from the upgrade process, and even read the (extremely lackluster) steps involved in the FATE, from the notice board.

So basically he should plop his butt down the minute he gets home from work, forego any housesold chore/activity and game ff14 till the wee hours just to feel like he contributed an "event" that, might I add, gets involvement from other servers?

I mean, I get the point you're trying make here, and we could all start one upping each other with how many jobs we got but cmon, let's not pretend like the restoration was well implemented enough to warrant the idea that "y'all got reasonable time to do it".

What exactly is stopping people from contributing to the event, though? All you potentially miss out on is the FATE and minor upgrades to the zones aesthetic which you can see when you get home, so unless you cannot play for days at a time you're not likely to miss out on much (if you do, well there are plenty of comparison screenshots kicking around now). Anyone can still contribute the same way as everyone else by crafting and turning in items... If people aren't doing that, because of limited play time... Well that is on them honestly... They've made a choice to prioritize other content over this... Nothing is stopping them from getting home and deciding to craft towards this, only themselves and their desire to do something else... If that's really a problem, can I complain that I haven't cleared Deep Dungeons? I've never put effort into do them, but that's just because I'd rather do other content. If I choose to I can still go and do them though, just like if I choose to I can craft some crap for Ishgard and turn it in to contribute... If I don't see the zone upgrade directly... So what? Most players probably completely missed out on Revenant's Tolls transformation over the patches, but I don't see anyone complaining about that. End of the day you can still walk into the Firmament and likely see it upgraded compared to your last visit, and know you helped to contribute to that if you actually traded some items in to earn the Scrips for whatever rewards you wanted...

If it's a Doman Enclave style progression cutscene people are worried about missing, rest assured you've missed nothing. There isn't anything like that. You finish the FATE, your screen flashes, then you turn around and notice a pile of bricks has moved. There's no fanfare, no NPCs thanking you for rebuilding their house single handed. The closest thing resembling any of that is the flavour text on the notice board, which we can all read whenever we want...

I get the disappointment behind missing something like this, but it's such a minor thing that I really don't think it's worth getting worked up over and labeling the content as a failure... They set up the Ishgard Reconstruction like this, rather than like the Doman Enclave, because they wanted to provide a world event. It's a success in that regard (and the regard that plenty of people are participating, leveling crafts they otherwise wouldn't have touched, providing a fairly low cost set of recipes to practice with, etc.), and for everyone who doesn't want a world event like this there are plenty who do want such an event. It's nice to actually have a part of the game feel somewhat alive, rather than just a series of static instances that only change when I, the protagonist, walks in. This is an MMO after all, sometimes the developers are going to create content that caters to one subsection of players over another.

I think the general consensus is that the FATES are being spawned into the dead hours of the night. The Behemoth one was going to spawn at literally 1 AM EST, which honestly on a weekday is unreasonable for both night shift and day shift workers. Generally what I think should happen is that once materials are gathered in the Restoration, the server sets a time(generally peak hours on XIV are around 5 PST, which would make it reasonable) and that time becomes FATE time for a world FATE. It’s no different than the other world FATEs that spawn given it’s on a timer with a condition behind it.

The area was just so darn crowded yesterday. I did 2 crafts only and i went and did Yorha and other stuff instead. World visit should not have been allowed for this.
What exactly is involved in these "Fates" people keep talking about?
Do we not have enough fates used in this game for like everything? lol

The announcements board pretty much details the whole thing, under "1st Stage Concerted Works". Honestly there's more flavour text in that notice board than anything I saw in game, but the FATE was essentially interact with A, move to B and interact again, then move to C and interact again. Rinse and repeat until it's over for 500 Skybuilder Scrips. The FATE complete screen blocks your entire camera and the zone upgrades in the background similar to how I imagine the Doman Enclave zone updating worked. There was no cutscene accompanying this, not really any flavour text (none that you can't get off the notice board, at least). Honestly a forgettable experience, if you saw the zone prior to the FATE and after the FATE, you missed basically nothing.

Thank you for your response. I know last night someone in our FC said the fate would be up in a hr and it would have been like 1 am for me. I am up @ 5:00AM to go to work so yeah was skipping that, lol

They should have imo never made it the housing zone. I mean here is Francel wanting to do something for Ishgard who still suffers greatly from the war and still has an ongoing conflict between the people and now because of the idea of Edmont the whole place will turn mostly into something for adventurers? How does that help the people in the city who have no home, who are hungry? I mean each housing zone has like a handful of shops and thats is.

IMO it would have been better if this was truly a zone like Doma and was rebuilt for the people and after the community as done their part, Yoshida unlocks the housing wards at another part of Ishgard with could be as a thank you for the adventurers that are helping with rebuilding the city.
