I'm not sure much TIME & MONEY was actually spent on FFXIV by the looks of things.

Honestly, there are waaaaaay too many people on here complaining about what they want to see in ff14, complaining about the servers being down during the disaster, etc... People need to get a life and realize that there are other things to do besides video games. Sure SE makes some truly mindblowing awesomeness (i.e. - FFXI), but there is more to life than that.

Sadly, I have to agree that we're paying to play in an open beta. Theres a lot of things that I can see could have been done differently. While the concepts and ideas of "something unique" is very alluring, theres a reason other games are doing it the way they are; It works. I would like nothing more than to see this game succeed. I do think that it is salvagable, and that it should NOT be scrapped entirely to start over. There have been tremendous improvements to the game, however the core of the game is still unchanged. I feel that some issues are deeper than a simple fix. I am glad to have a voice in the direction the game expands into. I hope everyone else will agree with me.. There is no way to make EVERYONE happy, but there is a difference in enjoying a game or simply being content with how things are. Many more improvements will need to be made if we ever hope for this game to fulfill its potential. I hope to still be playing when it finally reaches those expectations.
I think success and failure are both still options.
Well the engine was made for multiple SE titles, and i consider the team who designed it as a somewhat separate entity to the FFXIV dev team. All the FFXIV team did was make a few models, repeated world fragments, textures, light sources, and do some really remedial coding as far as MMOs go in this day and age... I wouldn't really call that much work.
Comparatively speaking.
The graphics are good, but that's kind of independent to the actual "game". You don't PLAY graphics.
I think the fact that lodestone is full of SE's apologies about how the game didn't meet expectations is a clear indication this game FAILED and they are trying to do some damage control with the brand and company name.
