I agree on this, but since they are already hurry to make 2.0 ready in time(possible to have some delay) I think this won't happen.

Do you want 2.0 to be similarly delayed to 2019?
you are comparing this to a game that holds the worlds record for most VA in a game with over 200,000 lines of text VA. nice comparison, seems like it will be exactly the same /sarcasm.

They have already specified there will be VA in 4 different languages(English, Jp, French, and German i think). So long as it's more then what we currently have in the game I'll be satisfied. If not, whatever, not like I'm the one losing money off of a lack of living up to this generations typical MMO standard.

I would like to see more voice acting in the cut scenes for main story line and main quests of the game as for side quests and npc's its be nice if the npc's had greetings they would say when u talk to them if they did voice acting for everything in this game it would be annoying with the wall of text's atks that the npc will bombard ur chat log with. so im yes to voice acting as to what i posted

Ironically though, in a way if this game doesn't succeed isn't it a loss of our money? I'm sure the other 600,000 people that quit feel that way.

I agree with you, that at the very least it would be fantastic if all the NPCs had little greetings. Along with that some NPC animations instead of everyone just sitting there perfectly still, and silent. What's up with all the silence?!?!

And that game also had a funding that was estimated up to 500m. Seems like it will be exactly the same /sarcasm. Give FFXIV a funding close to that, then expect VA close to that, thank you. Weren't you blah blah about SE is deep in red and FF brand is dying, where exactly money coming from to fund all those features, not to mention the complain about the speed of content update we are getting and you expect a miracle that VA won't affect that speed.

FFXIV doesn't need voice acting to be great.

If the game succeeds it's a loss of our money because we aren't getting VA with our purchase? Idk what you mean.

I was saying hypothetically, there are two version of 2.0... One with VA, and one without VA. Those are the only two differences. Only, VA will sell more copies because why would anyone purchase the no VA copy for the same price when you could get both text and VA in the VA copy. The company would only lose money if they didn't add VA.

Perhaps you were saying if the game DOESN'T succeed then it would be our money loss? Same for the other 600k people who quit and are(maybe) coming back for 2.0?

I'm looking at this as 2.0 has to succeed with or without VA, because if it doesn't, VA wouldn't be to blame either way, it would be the game as an entirety.

Which brings me to a good point for the thread.

No one quit WoW, Rift, TOR, or ANY GAME IN EXISTANCE over the games voice acting. Which is why I don't see how anyone could argue against adding it to the game.

One could argue music is annoying and repetitive much like VA can be, people turn down the volume on the music, much like people who don't like VA can turn down that volume.

People who like VA remember a good example of VA. People who don't like VA conjure up thee most exagerated annoying example of VA and then say THIS IS VA IN EVERY SHAPE COLOR AND FORM!

sooooo much 'VA' in one post.

EDIT: just saw the ninja edit. lol i figured you meant doesn't

Lol yeah sniperrifle I looked at it later and saw that it didn't make sense. Haha. So yeah you bring some more more excellent points. Although I'm not sure how the scenario where no one has ever quit a game over voice acting is a reason to favor adding it.

Actually, funny points you made about people in general, and true, and I think actually the reason some people are resistant to it is at this point the fixing of FFXIV has become a community concern, like we're all citizens of a city that has F'ed up big time and we're voting for legislation in our city-Congress. Some moves for a motion to add voice acting. People get worried because there's a sense of insecurity about this game's management. People like Yoshi-P, the leader, but the team hasn't proven that they've shaken their foundations of incompetence. Deep down every last white knight is terrified that 2.0 will blow up in the faces of the world, and that SE will shut the game down, depriving them of their beloved world. I'm not a white knight but that's the way I feel too, because I genuinely like the game and well, its potential at least. Voice acting is a huge undertaking and commitment, and I think people are worried because you can't trust a team that is barely if even competent with such a huge investment. So some are basically afraid that by adding a huge investment to the game that isn't a direct fix to the brokenness of the game (even though practically there is little management burden added by it) SE will blow it, 2.0 will fail, and the game will be forever doomed.

I understand that emotion, but I think the dev team is up to the task. I think Yoshi-P feels a great deal of anxiety now because 2.0 is supposed to be ready for testing in a little more than 5 months and the picture hasn't come together. If I was him my hair would be turning grey. But to remedy that I think the team needs a huge vote of confidence, because they are the most talented people in the world at what they do, and they had been working under poor leadership for so many years that the implosion of 2.0 undeservedly affected their morale. SE needs to make this huge of an investment in FFXIV and they need to do the impossible, which is increase the budget enough and pull out all the stops. And make it happen. Without it I'm just back to worrying that they're just going to "coast on what they have" right into another failure, just like the initial alpha/beta/launch of FFXIV, full of delusion.
