We still have some on Hyperion too - so for now, I'd like to think that all the current FCs that want a house have at least managed to obtain something, desired plot or not.
The last ones will get snapped up as soon as the moratorium is lifted though.

Act in such a way that you treat humanity, whether in your own person or in the person of another, always at the same time as an end and never simply as a means
I spend the past 2 years preparing for moving my small to medium/large house. Saving up Gils day in day out and finally got enough for a large. On the day of 5.1 I prepared for everything; I removed my secondary password, I set up a /busy hotkey, I reset my modem just in case it decides to crap out on me at the last second. Then the server opens and I got in but before I could do anything the server decided I'm worth and lobby error me and kicked me out. By the time I got back in almost all of the houses are taken.
Then some guy brags how he manages two get a private large and an FC large while all I could do is wait for more wards which would usually end with the same thing occurring. And that's just for transferring; I can't even begin with imagining what it's like to obtain a house directly through purchase. Every time I see a small plot open up I see 5 to 10 people all trying to camp the house all day.
The developer really needs to make some changes to the housing system. There are a plenty of people who want to simply enjoy the game but can't go through the kind of things (for example irl reasons like work, school, family) most of us have to do to obtain a house.

Well, having a fixed amount of time give you a reward is how PVE works. In PVP you could spend a huge amount of time and never get anything if others were spending more time (since it's direct competition). That last point is pretty much what people are complaining about, that they can't get a house not that it takes too long. I realize this might be a little pedantic but I believe it's also part of the polarization we see on forums where one group spent weeks/months/years getting their house and get rubbed the wrong way by people not wanting to put as much effort as them for it.
And yeah, currently some people can get lucky and spend little time compared to others. But statistically it's still the people with the most free time spent at it that leave with the house in the end.
In that sense Housing is still very much sticking to the rules of PVP gameplay (with the added opportunity of getting lucky which is a good thing imo)
As far as house pricing goes I don't think it's all that relevant anyways since the main barrier is supply, so there's no need to control access with higher prices.
Cheers.
Housing is the real end game. The only reason I sub is to keep my 2 larges in the same ward, even though one of them is empty that I just let people use for gardening.
Edit - Just gonna quote what I said earlier in the thread:
What of those that go on vacation for a week with the family? And don't say "Pack your laptop." That's not always an option, nor should it be a requirement. When I visit Iceland, again, the last thing on my mind during my time there is "Golly-gee, I'd better log into an MMO!"
this is exactly why i dont even try for a house, unless you RP or garden a house serves no purpose whatsoever so you all can know theres 1 less even trying for a house out there. in my opinion the wards should have been for FC housing only while personal housing should be instanced

Honestly I am so irked with housing it sickens me!!
I have two characters that I play on my account (my legacy character and another character I created for replaying the story before NG+ was a thing)
My non-legacy character had a Medium house in the mist. Later on, I started primarily playing my legacy character, but I cannot make use of the house that I bought on my second character because of "reasons I dont know" the same reasons that prevent me from friending or mailing stuff to other characters on my account. I assume those reasons are RMT related but Ive never seen confirmation from SE regarding why you cant...
So back to my issue. I wanted to move my house from my alt to my legacy character and was sadly presented with little options. Those options were:
1. Drop my house, get zero gil back from it and hope that no one buys it again while a hidden timer that prevents it from being purchased until a random duration of time ticks down until completion... and then rebuy that house on my main character.
OR
2. Wait 45 days, get some gil back on the purchase price, and again wait while a hidden timer that prevents it from being purchased until a random duration of time ticks down until completion... and then re-buy that house on my main character.
In that time, if I missed the expiration of the random timer, someone else could buy it!
OR option #3 folks dont know about and ultimately the one I chose because Im impatient and want my house to stay my house...
3.Buy a random small plot that is available on my main character. Swap to my alt and drop the original house (losing all potential gil back I could have got from waiting 45 days). Then log back into the character I want the house to be on, and transfer from the small plot I bought to the plot my other character just relinquished thus CIRCUMVENTING the hidden timer preventing the land from being purchased. (And believe you me, this was a harrowing experience worrying that someone else may notice the plot was available for transfer in the few minutes it took for me to do all this because the housing market is so bloody volatile and camped like mad)
So essentially Ive bought my house TWICE now and paid extra because I had to also pay for another small plot in order to transfer quickly back to it to avoid the dumb timer ... ALL BECAUSE you can only have 1 personal house per account per server.... But you also cant SHARE that same house with your other characters on the account making that rule absolutely RIDICULOUS!
